HIV Oral Sex and Herpes

I had oral sex and protected intercourse with a protitute about 6 weeks ago...within a week or so i devleoped a cold sore / herpes on my mouth which went away with medication.  Around the same time I also felt a bit sick and had a little diarrhea and had a fever of 102 for a night which broke by monring and I was better.  I have a cough now and all these symptoms have occured within 6 weeks fo I am worried.
Does geting the Herpes from her increase the risk of HIV?
Am I at risk for HIV based on this scenario and do the symptoms I desribed sound like HIV?
Please Pease help

So your strategy, condom for vaginal sex and no protection for oral, in fact is a super-safe strategy that will indeed keep you free of HIV.

Good luck-- HHH, MD

You dont know you got herpes from her. You could have been infected with hsv1 or 2 for quite some time, and only recently had an outbreak.

Did you see any open sores on her? Did you have any open sores on you? This is what is meant by "Herpes increasing the risk of transmission." The female has open sores from herpes infection, which in turn will allow HIV much easier access into and out of her blood stream. In trun meaning she has a greater chance of transmitting it or receiving it. A male has herpes sores, and as such, he has a greater risk of transmitting or receiving for the same reasons.

But wouldnt getting Herpes raise the risk?  it could mean open sores that transfered to me?

Also I have weak knees now, or sore joint pain...plus occassional pain in fingers etc...
