Towel

Hey folks, this will sound silly but wanted to make sure. I am awaiting a 3 month test (from a small exposure) and my wife and me decided it was okay to give me a handjob on wonderful valentines day. After we were done, I wiped it off with a towel and our little guy came running in. I know it is paranoid but if the remote chance I did have the virus, it could not be passed from the towel to any of my families members if they came into contact with it? Done be ruthless on me for asking this, I am a very paranoid person and just want to make sure.

Move on, you were never at risk of contracting HIV.

Thanks Teak, so if I understand this. As soon as I wiped it up it would have not been infectious. Therefore, handjobs are also safe until my tests are back? I really want to make sure as my wife is pregnant.

And I got squashed against the wall for asking about having protected sex with a csw...

Slowgo STD's are not spread by inanimate objects. Period.

In case you ask, needles is a different story which I will not go into.

HIV cannot stay active outside it's host. At no time were you ever at risk.

Just out of curiosity, how long would HIV in semen live outside the body? I have read some sites that say 5-10seconds and others that say up to 2 hours.

Thanks for the response, it must be tough for anyone positive and they have to be very careful with other family members.

Towels, tissue rolls, napkins whatever,,,, have nothing to do with HIV transmission, whatever the conditions may be,,, HIV transmitted only when exchange of body fluids takes place inside body, through mucus membrane or direct into blood stream.... Stop worrying and move on

Rather not tal about the exposure, it was small. Just wondering how long the virus can live in semen outside the body if I wiped it up with a towel. Nothing really explains it to much. I am hoping after a few minutes it would not be infectious just to put my mind at ease

What was the small exposure? Remember HIV can not live out side the body. Remember HIV needs to get in the blood stream skin is an excellent barrier against transmission so really no worry at all.

It was thrown on the ground as I went in for a shower and I am quit sure no one went near it but even if they did I am guessing it wouldn't matter much but just wanted to make sure.

very highly unlikely! obviusly washing will help but HIV is a very hard disease to pass! for eg. strep only needs 50 bodies to pass the disease...HIV requires millions of bodies to infect a person. and body contact is highly unlikely to pass it, unless the small chance the spot where you wipped came in contact with a cut! dont worry but better safe than sorry
