unprotected sex with hiv positive male

11 weeks ago i had unprotected sex with a hiv positive bi male. I did not know his std condition until he told me. i have known this guy for a year, and fullish enough of me to trust him.
I did go to the local hospital three days post exposusre, the doctor said i have to wait for three months. Mean while, about 7 to 10 days i did come up with head flu, but no temperature. It lasted about a week or so. I could not help my nerves and anxiety, at 6 weeks i visited another doctor who did a hiv test. The resolts came back negative.
Doctor said i have to repeat the test at 12 weeks.

I am so worried.....Please TEAK or some one give me some kind of an answer.....

1. How reliable is the 6 week test?

2. What are my chances of getting HIV?  He did ejaculate inside me...But it only happened once...

I feel fine other wise...i dont feel tired, no skin rash or any other symptoms expact the head flu with no temperature 7 to 10 days post exposure...

PLEASE HELP

THANK YOU

when would you say most people are postive?
a doctor on here said 95% will be positive by 6 weeks
if you were in our situations, would you say we didnt have HIV after our negative tests?

How many people who test HIV negative at 6 weeks using a 4th or 3rd generation test will test postive after 6 weeks or at the 12 weeks conclusive test?
Just a rough but accurate figure would be re assuring....

many thanks lizzie

keep us posted on what happens, im very nervous with mine as well
I read most people who are HIV + will be at average 25 days on blood test, so yours at 6 weeks, like mine, looks good :)

Nothing causes a delay in antibodies it is just each person is different.
Why negative one week and then positive next week...just based on the persons body and antibody producation. No rhyme or reason. But 3 month is conclusive.

Thank you so much for your reply...it has been a nightmare all these weeks... i am going for my 12 week test next week...

i am so scared.....

i do understand what you said to me Lizzie that 6 week test is a good indication of my status...and i do find a bit of comfort with that, BUT i am still scared of my 12 week test......

What couses a delay....in producing detectable antibodies?

WHY be negative one week THEN be positive in the next week?

symptoms...or lack thereof...do NOT diagnose hiv.  not everyone experiences symptoms of infection.

your 6 weeks test is a good indication of your status...but you MUST follow up at 3 months for a conclusive result.
