Fairly young and Ischemic

Doctor,
I have been told by two Docs that I am Ischemic. I am 30, and they said it usualy happens in older people. When I stand I think my BP drops and my eyes and head make me feel like I am about to faint. Sometimes also when I stand my heart races for a sec. I guess because of these symptoms they came to the Ischemic conclusion. It has been happening for a few years. My question is that if it usually happens in older people why could it be happening to me?? Is there any other possible reasons people can be Ischemic??
Thank you.

Dear carol,

you should have this evaluated and i would recommend a cardiac catheterization.  while this is more common in older people young people may develo0e blockages or have abnormal circulation from birth.

I have already had a echo and a carotid doppler. Both came back fine. Would a blockage have shown up on those or do you still think there could be a problem somewhere requiring a cath?
Thank you.

ONly a stress test will determine if you are ischemic.  I am assuming that this has been done and showed these results.  The next step is generally a catheterization.

an echo or a carotid study will not show this.

Doctor,
Actually they told me I was Ischemic without any test! They just told me I was by my symptom description! Maybe I should not think I am Ischemic by their "assumptions". What do you think?
Thanks for replying.

Dear Carol,

As far as i am concerned, ischemic is a diagnosis to be taken seriously and should only be used after this has been evaluated and determined via a stress test.

This is not to be taken lightly and I would ask your physician for a clarification and if they are concerned that you are "ischemic"  the next step would be a stress test ( with an imaging study) to rule this in or out.

Best of luck!
