Stress Test

I was hospitalized recently with chest pain that radiated down my arm and stayed in the hospital over night on a heart monitor had to have nitro and was sent home with nitro  and zanex... Today I had a stress test done and since I also have bad feet they did the injection threw the iv, with in a minute or two i had the worst chest pain I have ever had in my life  they gave me oxygen and I did a breathing technique  such as the breathing in and out for lamaze  and I felt they hurried and got what they needed and then flushed my system. Of course i had the ct with my heart at rest before the stress test and then after  the stress test... But am wondering what you would think is possibly going on. My maternal grandfather died because his heart actually exploded and my father himself has had bypass surgery... so there is a hitory in our family all my sibling's take meds for high blood pressure and one sister takes heart medication already ... Could you please let me knwo what your thgouhts are on this ... Thank you

Pharmological stress tests have a risk to the patient of an adverse reaction from the chemical agent and that includes chest pain.  Also there are contraindications to cardiac testing for patients with recent MI event and unstable angina.

I don't know the chemical agent involved but but adverse effects occur in approximately 75% of patients undergoing dobutamine stress testing. Effects include ST changes (50%), chest pain (31%), palpitations (29%), and significant supraventricular or ventricular arrhythmias (8-10%.

Because you were treated with oxygen for hypoxia, it could inciate you had an ischemic event or broncho (respiratory) spasm..
