Boderline LVH in Pediatric patient

Boderline LVH in Pediatric patient

Hi.  My daughter is 8 years old and was diagnosed with Pierre-Robin 2 years ago. In post-op she experienced hours of tachycardia, her HR was well over 180. It did resolve on its own before they called for a cardiolosgist to see her. Prior to her second surgery we were sent for a cardio workup.  Her ECG states LVH and non specific anterolateral T wave changes. It states in black and white abnormal ECG. The Cardiologist said it was a normal report. It clearly states in the doctors writing boderline LVH.  My question is this.  Should an echo be done to visualize the thickness of her heart, just to have a baseline reading? I don't know if its relevant but she does have asthma and although has had a T&A she still has mild sleep apnea.  She may need to have surgery again in the next few months and I just would like to know if this should be looked into again.

I am sorry to hear about your daughters surgeries.  Unfortunately, I have no experience with children and kids EKGs.  If your doctor thought she needed an echo, I am sure it would have been ordered.  The EKG generated interpretation is often not correct.  I would not use that to decide if it is normal or not.  The best next step is probably to ask your doctor directly if she can have an echo.  There might be a good reason why they haven't ordered it yet.
