I had my ablation done at the Univ of Penn, Dr. Marchlinski. The ablation was for both a-fib and flutterAtrial fibrillation/flutter. It took almost 8 hours. I hear Dr. Callans is wonderful also. As a matter of fact I think all the doctors there are very good. I would not hesitate to go to any of them.
Here is my experience with ablation-
I was sedated, but concious. No pain at all, like watching from afar.
Felt my heart racing, but did not care... what a wonderful feeling.
Went home that night since they did not ablate. Was very tired for few days... black and blue, sore groin for several weeks. Have help with children for few days. Certainly not worse thing I have ever had.. would do it again in heartbeat to get rid of meds and racing heart.
And if it works you will be free - how wonderful for you!!!
I am orignally from Penn , so I think it is a great place to go. There is also John Hopkins, an excellent facility too.
I wish you all the best... and a wonderful recovery and healthy life.
