:( Step2011

Hi Step2011.  My Bf and I were planning to donate blood for my Tita. But we were shocked when he was diagnosed with Hepa B last Aug21. After that day, I went to the hospital and found out that I'm also hbsag reactive. Im still waiting for my hepa profile, HBV DNA, SGPT and liver ultrasound result. Anyways, here is the result of his hepa profile and Sgpt. I dont know if its acute or chronic. If its in infectious state or not. Is the liver ok? Were both worried :( we dont have any idea how we're going to handle this.

SGPT:

S.I Unit            Conventional Unit
REF Val     Result    Result  REF Val
Up to 0.68   0.48     28.59   41 U/l
*************************************
Anti HCV    0.16      Non Reactive

Anti Hbc  Less than    0.199      NR

Anti HAV  less than     0.269     NR
(Igm)      1.00

Thanks and God bless to all of us..

the infection is probably, like 98% of us here, from the mother at birth or during a pregnancy (immune suppressed by pregnancy).it is not acute but chronic.look for one of the best centers in your country and best liver specialist, since most are ignorant and labs running obsolete tests like the ones posted here

to define infection and cure you need (hbv is a benigne infection oonce you know, so be happy you know and can stop it and maybe cure it)

hbsag quantitative in iu/ml (machines abbott architect or roches elecsys)
hbvdna
hbv genotype
fibroscan
ultrasound
liver function

the cure is: tenofovir, entecavir or peginterferon (no other antivirals are safe for hbv, some ignorant or corrupted doctors still try to prescribe antivirals which are no firstline anymore due to resistance)

if hbsag is less than 1000iu/ml infection can be cleared by pegintf

Depends on tests results and

none of these if hbsag less than 1000iu/ml better peg

low hbsag looks like not rare among this community

I forgot to post this one, his hbsag was 683.09 reactive. The cut off signal is less than 0.90. Wat does it mean?

that s a crap rubbish obsolete test that means nothing for a chronic carrier.the number means nothing and is not a quantity

i guess those drugs are available, the point is not only decrease viral load but also hbsag, because it is hbsag to reflect infected cells in the liver, not viral load
