Can i stop Enetcavir after two doses

Dear Experienced people Stef11, Aduiski and others

I started taking Entecavir 0.5mg, have taken it for two day only (two tablets). Got diagnosed recently as HBsAg positive (Chronic HBV) and Doctor prescribed this. I just want to stop, and go for Healthy diet and supplements like some members here are doing (I read this after i took the tablet)  and wait for sometime and retest the blood again and then decide on Entecavir. On the net I learnt that once started you cannot stop this medication. Also scared of side effects. I an 41 year male.

Please help, can I stop this just after two days or now I have continue since i already started??? If tests are not good after a month I will start this medication.

thanks

Hi Jason
Do you mean that headache and coldness in Palm is due to entecavir?  Had it only on 2nd day. It did not happen again. I am on my 5th dose today. Doctor says my viral lad (6250)  should come down noticeably in a month.  Now the question is still whether I should continue taking entecavir.

My starting SGPT  Was 140 on 1st
69 on 12th
Then 72 on 20th, so it has remained elevated.

I am scared to stop it now after 5 days. Confused.........

To sphereAj . if your dr noticed a resistance he will knock out entecavir or add TDF .so don't stop it , it will not respond automaticaly .

Thanks for answering Nicolefor. Even my doctor said those symptoms have nothing to do with entecavir. So will continue with the medication and the supplements 1) blackseed (nigella sativa) + honey In the morning 2) vitamin D 3 10000iu perday

Will check black radish,  don't know if it is available here in India.

To SphereAj : You will find it in vegetable markets or supermarkets.

To SphereAj . Don't be too scared also , scaring can make you sick. eat black radish for liver treatment , it's a very good vegetable  at the same time a very good supplement  for liver treatment

I would have advised you to stop it since you have not taken it for for long ,but now that you feel fatigue and with alt above normal range  ,you better continue.

Hi Nicolefor
Thanks but I have already taken two doses of entecavir 0.50mg. Can I stop this till I get fibroscan and HBsAg quantitative test done?
Or is it now dangerous to stop?

The problem now is  that as just mentioned above ''Last week of January 2016 I had muscle ache and stomach upset and fatigue.'' check for the cause of this ,then wait for your fibroscan .The truth is that your alt is still high .and you feel fatique   .

Hi Nicolefor
On 1 February 2016
I had high SGPT 140
SGOT 80
Viral load 6250 IU
HBv DNA quantitative 7622
Bilirubin etc normal
Ultrasound normal

On 12 February 2016 SGPT down to 69
Earth about vitamin D test from Stef11 started the supplement also black seed with honey.

Last week of January 2016 I had muscle ache and stomach upset and fatigue.

Blood test was done for new insurance policy and this came up.

Learnt a lot on this forum. Doctor just prescribed Entecavir 0. 5mg for 6 months. No further information provided.

Just took two days dose and still scared to continue.

Fibroscan will be done soon
HBsAg quantitative test not available yet to me.

It's quite normal you are all scared .
ART (antiretroviral therapy ) is a sort of prison and we all know that .I'm not on treatment ,i monitor my health with natural supplements. And i learn here the importants of vd3 and i'm also taking it.
But, if my health is critical at the level that my hepatologist says i should start a treatment ,i will do it . I have never taken any ART , but if things worsen , i will be oblige to start treatment . So , if you have high alt, high dna, high fibroscan or fibrotest exp.F2A3,or  f2f3 or f3A3 or f4A0 You are oblige to start a treatment . But if you have no fibrosis and no virus activity ie f0A0, normal alt , normal GGT,ALP, .....etc even if dna and hbsag quanti are high ,you can monitor your health for long without ART but a constant control of alt and fibroscan is very necessary. Every 6 months
