Effects of marijuana on Hep B patients?

Hi Guys,

A few years ago I was diagnosed with Hep B and since then I havent touched alcohol or marijuana. This has been very hard as im only 18 and am currently attending a very alcohol orientated university.

My doctors have told me to stay away from alcohol but marijuana has never been mentioned. Im just wondering, What are the effects of marijuana on the liver and whiether or not it is adviseable for a Hep B patient to smoke it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

when i was about 18 i used to drink alcool once a week at disco and smoked marjuana 1 time.
i was inactive carrier from birth with hbe, hbeab and hbvdna undetactable, normal alt

after that one time marjuana i had fever and got hbv activated with alt 200.
i can't tell 100% if it was marjana or alcool but one thing is for sure they both lowered my immune system and after that i had 6-8 month of acute hepatitis with alt starting at 200 and reaching 1400.
after all these months i seroconverted to hbeab and got und in about 2 weeks with normal alt.
this immunity lasted with normal alt/hbvdna und for about 15 years but i never touched alcool/marjuana again

so my suggestion is not to mess with alcool/marjuana with hbv

can smokin pot cause more trouble if ive got hepatitis b(the infection its almost gone but the ****** virus its stil in my blood). i smoke a lot of pot and drink a lot. ive managed to cut my drinkin down (weekends only) but i love smokin n i cant give up , if some knows something on this matter please let me know

Below are some links on the effects of marijuana and the liver.One link says you have  abetter chance of getting & retaining a SVR if taken during treatment....I feel it's a personal choice, it's still illegal in most states, so with that said. I wish I had known about this during my 2 years of treatment...it may have gone a little bit easier.
And since you are in school and you may or may not have addiction problems I'd say be very careful what you do or put into your body/liver....Best of luck to you.

Goodmornin BB , Goldyn and I were talkin about morrel mushrooms the other day . They grow wild in the forest around here in the spring. I don't know thier nutritional value but I know thier good deep fried in my fry daddy. Rocker and forsee , forgive me .

funny we're on the same page on so much of this, I take a really high potency oregano, and slab the stuff on anything I can, maybe one of reasons the meditteranean diet is so great (statistically) is cause oregano is such an integral part of it...I just like to do anti-oxidant washes throughout the day...I'm with you on the mangosteen, prob just another high oxidant juice, once they are really high like that it's hard to know exactly what is what and how much, all that...youre prob really helping youre immune response with all this great stuff you're doing, and I'm glad the sides are easy on you...

I had a fried try to get me to start taking Goji juice.  She claims it will cure lots of things.  I am really skeptical.  To many claims and if it worked that good all the pharmacies would be out of business.

i'm a big proponent of "Land of the Free"...y'know-if i'm not hurtin anybody-keep your darn nose outa my business....it's about respect for the individual;pursuit of happiness;sanctity of my privacy...Don't they have much bigger fish to fry? well,first they gotta catch them....we r spendin a big fortune on 'the war on drugs' and really not Helping many people;and i don't like that defoliant aerial spraying program in s. america(columbia esp) and more$$$$$military aid&more military advisers(800 officially)..another place we should get our noses out of!! can't we just stay home&mind our own borders???sorry,for the political spiel,this isn't about republicans or democrats..its about both of them& how they $$$$$$pend our money......

Under older tests used in those studies, you would have undetectible.  Going to my farmers market tomorrow for fresh veggies.  I LOVE this time of year!  I only plan to treat for the 48 - too many positive indicators to extend.  Female, young (at least according to the doc, LOL!), not over weight, low viral load, undetectible at 12 and 24, no liver damage.  All that clean living and ribavirin!  Just shot in the big 39, down to the single digits!!!!!!!!!!! Life is GOOD!
