Start first injection of PegIFN tomorrow, need advice

Have a test a month ago, DNA=5x10^7, HBsAg>250iU, HBeAg=1000iU
Today got refreshed ALT/AST=123/112

Will start the first injection of PegIFN tomorrow.
Heard that Vitamin D3 is helpful, can I take VitD3 daily during PefIFN? Is it safe?
Shall I take the pill of VitD3 which can be bought from the med store? How many mg shall I take every day?

We know sequential treatment well here, but most of doctors still can't apply it on us since it seems no authoritative doctors or clinical trials for all doctors to believe. So my doctors determine the IFN first, if fails, sequetial treatment.

I'm surprised your Dr. chose to go straight for peg injections with your Hbsag being as high as it is... O" range for better chance to clear is 1000  a 1500 ml/iu.

There is a very long post regarding sequential treatment starting with Viread for minimum 2-3 years then add on peg. 91% chance for clearance with this type of treatment.

Good luck,

Daily take 10,000IU VitD3
After 4 injection:
ALT: 132
HBVDNA: still > 5x10^7 (Upper Limit of the test)
HBsAg: No test

Don't know if DNA result is improved since it's still above upper limit of the test. Will let you know the result of 8 inject later next month

DR SARIN is one of the best Dr for liver in India, maybe one of the best in the World. But all the investigation is done by his five assistant Dr and he just only go through his assistant prescription and add his opinion to it. Only draw back is its really hard to get appointment.

Along with Dr you also need to study yourself and see if the treatment is going the righ way. To be honest many Dr only know how to prescribed medicine, but people like us need more than a medicine prescribing Dr.

I think ALT raises when you are on PEG, I think you should not worry untill its below 1000
My Dr ask to just monitor this:
Haemoglobin >10
TLC >2.5
Platelets >4
Bilirubin total <2.5

I hope you have your Dr numbers handy as you might need help when you are on PEG.

Hope it help

Thats normal the side last for three days, You Should take Vit D and check time to time and maintain above 50ng. if you work take the injection on Friday even so you can take rest Saturday and Sunday, that's how i use to do.

keep a dairy or note pad with you at all time if possible so you could note down when you feel unusual so that you can talk to your Dr, many a time we feel we can remember but its not always.

Keep posting your diets etc so other members can give you their opinion it help!

Hi, jrai2014, good to have your experience.
My HBsAg quanitity is high, 37000IU.
Now it's 3 days after first injection. 24 hrs after injection I got a bit fever but it just remained for about 6 hours and now I am OK. At the moment, I feel OK, no serious side effect except a little bit nausea.
I've order VD3 10000IU capsule, will daily take this week.

I think you should be concern about your Vit D, Rather then other people! Normal people get all their need through sunlight etc.

When I started PEGinf, I did not check my Vit D, and I had all the side effect ever recorded in medical history, it came to point that I had to take inhealer like asthma patient. When I check my vit d it was 12 ng/ml. Most of my common health issues has gone now after raising vit d.  I am telling you out of experience the rest is your take. I'll try to keep as high as close to 100ng/ml possible.

Yes, I will.
Your VD3 is 90ng/ml, what's the normal interval of VD3 on healthy people?

I don't know my VD3 level, will try to ask the dr to test it.

I understand the side effect very much, and now I think I am well prepared.
