yes,I was diagnosed with (interferon induced) Chronic Fatigue syndrome a year post successful treatment with interferon/riba 10 years ago and Post Interferon Syndrome 4 years later.I do understand how frustrating and debilitating the overwhelming fatigue can be.I do agree with Pooh that you should first investigate autoimmune issues as both the virus and the treatment are known to cause autoimmune problems and that this could well be the cause of your fatigue.I do hope you get some answers eventually.
A person with a massive allergic reaction to INF who then develops fatigue, a symptom they now know frequently follows INF due to brain inflammation and damage .... pretty EZ leap to make.
Why do you say that Hep C triggers auto-immune disease?
Congratulations on attaining SVR!
As far as the fatigue is concerned, your specialist may be correct that the fatigue is from your liver disease. However, both Hepatitis C and Interferon can trigger Autoimmune Diseases. Many Autoimmune Diseases cause severe fatigue. It would be prudent to be seen by a Rheumatologist and be checked for Autoimmune Diseases.
Most of the symptoms from Hepatitis C and the side effects of drugs disappeared after I finished treatment. I waited almost a year before seeing a Rheumatologist for lingering fatigue, joint pains, rash issues, and brain fog. My Rheumatologist ran a truckload of tests and then diagnosed me with Sjogren's Disease. I have actually had Sjogren's for over 23 years but was never diagnosed until I saw the Rheumatologist. Anyway, the symptoms, including the fatigue, are all due to Sjogren's.
I would suggest finding a Rheumatologist at a large university affiliated medical center. They would be the most likely to be able to properly evaluate your symptoms and find answers. If you do have an Autoimmune Disease, you may be having other Autoimmune Disease symptoms that you do not realize are Autoimmune related. A good Rheumatologist can fit those pieces together. If you do happen to have an Autoimmune Disease, there are treatments that can vastly improve your life.
Best of luck going forward.
