Really there aren't any nerves in your liver to feel pain, which is why a biopsy is relatively pain free. There is speculation that it might be the capsule surrounding your liver shrinking or expanding but again that makes no sense or it would be hell during a biopsy.

I am not asking about a biopsy. So there is no liver pain associated with hep c ?

You miss the point but with your numbers if you have hepc you need a biopsy anyways. IF there were nerve endings associated with pain in your liver they would have to knock you out to do it but as it is we are kept awake because it's just like a big needle really.

Of course some people believe it is their liver but it would have to be getting better to be shriking or significantly worse all at once to be expanding.

Otherwise there is nothing....................liver pain no usually it's IBS.

There is "liver pain" although I prefer to call it "discomfort".

It is attributed to the distension of the Glisson's Capsule, which is a sheath of connective tissue which contains the liver. Upon liver inflammation the liver can swell and distend the capsule which causes discomfort

"The death of liver cells triggers the dispatching of inflammatory cells to the affected area. Inflammation leads to the enlargement of the liver (hepatomegaly) in over 60% of people infected with HCV and often results in abdominal pain. The inflammation can also cause the fibroelastic sheath (Glisson’s capsule) surrounding the liver to stretch, which can lead to pain in the liver area."

From past posts you say that you don't know that you even have hepatitis C. Take one step at a time. As others have told you either wait for the results of your PCR test and ultrasound or call the specialist (hopefully a gastroenterologist) to get the test results. You say you had other blood tests and an ultrasound in June. The doctors office had the results of your tests a long time ago. Call the office and get the results. Then we can help you. Asking us about these issues without knowing the status of your health is really unproductive as any answer that anyone could give you is not based on your medical condition.

As others have said, if you want to know more about hepatitis C there are many informative websites that can provide you with the facts about the disease. To worry about this disease, treatment and symptoms when you don't know if you are even infected is a waste of time and energy. First find out if you are infected then proceed from there.

You mention "liver pain". What do you mean by "liver pain"? Where is the pain located exactly? Is it sharp, dull, intermittent, constant? When did it start. Only a doctor can diagnose pain in the abdomen. If you really have pain in your abdomen I would think that most people would see a doctor ASAP to see if it is serious. Why haven't you?

Please focus on one issue at at time. If you do have hepatitis C we will be glad to help you through the process of treating the illness. Until there is a diagnosis it is pointless to guess what may be happening medically with anyone.

Good luck.

I kept poking myself in the liver and then wondering why it hurt so much...every time I poked to see if there was any pain I made it worse. Now, I dont poke anymore ;)
