Relacore to reduce Abdominal Fat/Increase Energy/Boost Immune System by Controlling Cortisol ?- INA

Saw a TV ad for "Relacore" and visited a few web sites.

In short, apparently some recent university studies show a relationship between the stress hormone, Cortisol, and abdominal fat -- the kind of fat that increases the risks of heart attacks.

Relacore and similiar acting products like Cortidrene, Therastress, Cortislim, etc. claim to reduce abdominal fat by controlling the stress hormone cortisone partly through a mild sedative effect of one of its active ingredients, Magnolia Bark.

Since treatment I've noticed a worsening lipid profile as well as more of a propensity for fat to accumulate on my abdomen than pre-treatment. My liver specialist recently admitted that interferon is know to accelerate the metabolic syndrome which is responsible for higher triglicerides, type II diabetes, abdominal fat and a host of other not so good stuff. Therefore my interest in Relacore or similar supplements. I flagged "Ina" (moniker Eisbein) because I believe she recently mentioned doing some research on stress hormones.

Here are some sites from a quick "Google". I know most of them are selling something but would like to get anyone's experience and/or comments. Or at least your take on the list of ingredients, whether anything is good, harmful, etc.

Any input appreciated.

Hey Jim, how are you doing?  I hope all is well with you.  Your comments really hit it right on the nose for me.  I have long believed that the Interferon stimulates the issues you raised above:  Metabolic Syndrome, Lipid, Diabetes, even BP, and ED.  I think the whole thing is related, and Metabolic Syndrome may be the main thrust, with additional fallout symptoms and syndromes.  I certainly have had a dramatic and noticable increase in related blood chemistries, and now have Metabolic Syndrome, Pre Diabetes, higher blood pressure, ongoing ED, and much more abdominal fat than before and during tx.  My labs are a completely different profile than before doing tx, and I am worried about the long term consequences.

I tend to believe that there is a connection between the Interferon creating a sort of 'autoimmune state', and the development of all these disturbing syndromes, and lab values.  My feeling is that the cause is right there, autoimmune function provoking a change in our system, and how it functions.

You are really correct in noting that we need to address all this stuff....and quickly, before we are beset with problems that become as bad as the original concerns over liver destruction.  As for me, Diabetes is nothing I would like to deal with, as well as the host of other potential heart, and circulatory issues raised by these changing lab values.

Let's keep on this issue, and maybe get some more collaboration from the medical and scientific communities.
