Dr. Gish and Fish Oil

As I wondered about the sometime extreme back pain I'm experiencing, and for those who also experience this, I was told by the back specialist that 8 grams of Triple Fish Oil (by GNC) was doing wonders for him, who ironically, has worse back pain than myself.

Dr. Gish (Hepatologist) said 8 grams is overkill for the liver and cautions against that amount. He said one capsule a day is a "moderate' and suggested dose. I only say this because as some of you have read, Hepatitis C can exacerbate joint pains.

As for my results, still at MELD 7 as I was a year ago. He said I can safely wait a year for the new PI's. Early Cirrhosis with low vitamin D, no cancer. This was good news in his opinion. He did mention several very important advices I would like to pass on to you. Eat right, keep your weight down, exercise and get plenty of sleep.

I'm still pushing the FDA for fast tracking...

Looking good Magnum. So you are stay stable. Congrats. Way to go.

I have no back pain. Unfortunately just about every other part of me feels like crap most of the time. ;-)

My last MELD was 15 so I should be able to get on the transplant list this month. I have moderate ascites now even when taking my diuretics. I can gain 10 lbs in a few days. Even though I watch my sodium intake like a hawk. Hope I can still do treatment in a year. Not sure if I am technically decompensated for good. I would still want to try it worse care if causes my liver to fail so I will need a transplant. I'll need one anyway if I can't treat.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Cheers!

Eat right, weight down, exercise,  good advice for everyone in the  world.  I was doing all those things and didn't clear the virus.  Either the meds kill it or they don't, either your genetics can do current SOC or they won't.  And when the new PIs come, it won't matter then either.   Fat with riba, no fat with riba, fiber no fiber,  I think none of it makes any difference.   I don't believe anymore in having an "edge" by doing these things.  Either the treatment works with pt compliance, or it doesn't.
