Finally Did It

After vacillating for two years, I finally had my initiation today -- I had my bx. I sure lucked out b/c I had the Dream Team perform it. It was done under CT scan with local anesthesia. The doctor at the radiologist site was phenomonal and her assistants were superb. I felt some pressure when she inserted the first needle, and NOTHING at all when she took the three samples. That was at 10:30 this morning, and I have had absolutely no pain. It is now 6:45 pm. I expect to start tx next Friday. I chose the long weekend just in case. It's good to know that you're all out there. Be well.

FLGuy inquires: And where exactly is that finger?

Firmly planted beneath the oozing festering boil .... who was looking a whole lot better last night at closing time. Don't want to risk moving it and waking her...

Actually, that's a pretty classy potty. With two cats and two dogs, I'm used to no privacy-why bother to shut the door if it only causes a fuss? And I live far enough out in the boondocks the neighbors will just think the moon is a little fuller tonite...........

And the Goof writes..."The oozing festering boil in question is on my finger..."

And where exactly is that finger?

Of course, when it comes to toilet links, you can always count on me. How'd you like to park your touche in there? I'd say it's the perfect spot for a little.....hhhhmmmmm.... how shall I say.... nooner?

Depending on how tx affects you, you made need that toilet a lot or not so much. Just to be sure, you may want to consider putting an enclosure around it while it's in the front yard. Neighbors may talk. Don't forget the TP, maybe you can hang it on a branch.

Puhhhlleeze!!!

The picture threat/offer was for the upper GI tract. Even I wouldn't send off off an unsolicited photo of the well in the back 40 - especially not down to LA, where I know you're very particular about the aesthetics of these things.

The oozing festering boil in question is on my finger.

Thanks everyone, so far so good... I could have worked today if I needed too. Only problem, I am a remodel addict, and decided to start on the bathroom last week.ssssoooo my toilet is sitting in the front yard, and I am Pushing Water........ to a bright person these should be mutually exclusive events...

Well it looks like I am going to have company with those starting treatment at the same time. I am starting next thursday or friday, can't make up my mind which day though.

Friscosue, I am also treating for 24 weeks, and from what I have read, we are fortunate to have an easy to treat genotype. As my nurse practioner said, we won the 'Hep c lottery'. Yeah, what a lottery!

Thanks for the check up. Yeah actually the physical sx are still there and holding, aches, fatique, itch. But the really good news is I been feeling a lot better mentally/emotionally this week. Makes a big difference when I don't feel so frustrated and aggravated. Just one of those funks I had to plod through.
Gotta admit I can still get a little crazy. Last night while I'm makin supper my kid comes downstairs and probably kidding(him and Dad like to tease the animal)he wises off. I yell get back up them stairs, soon as his foot hits the top step..GET DOWN here! Comes down. Goes to open his mouth- "UPAIRS! March!"
Even the dog shook his head went over to the corner and plops his paws over his eyes.
Be Well,
Don

Glad to see everyone is in good spirits this morning. Double shot night tonight - Peg and Procrit for me. The Peg (hate to say it) I almost look forward to - maybe I am hooked - but the Procrit I dread. Cuteus - did get my Procrit bumped to every 10 days instead of 2 weeks to maybe try to get the hgb to 12.

Can do and Goof -- Women aren't the only ones who can give the silent treatment. My man didn't talk to me for a day all because I said.............."do you know how many times you say "you know"?" He is just too dang sensitive. So then I froze him out. Oh the games we play. Wish I had those cool GI pictures...

Friscosue - great news about the dream bx team. And even better news about the company plans to drop the outsourcing. Are you starting tonight or next Friday? You have a great attitude and I just know will have a smooth start.

lilmona - great news too that you are starting. welcome to the club - of course you have been in it for a long time if your hubby has 16 to go. Does he post here (what screen name?)I imagine it will be challenging for those weeks that you both are still treating.

fishdoc - quit looking for the symptoms. They are going to hit you when you don't expect it. I had virtually no sides until about 12 weeks except for the blood count drops and I will do 31 tonight. In fact, this week for about 3 days was the very first time I ever experienced the ache flu-like symptoms that I have heard about and slept a lot on Sunday. Go figure ...

On riba bumps and scratching. I wore a pair of jeans I hadn't worn in about 2 years (ah the Peg-Copeg diet). I think I got spider bites and they do itch. I heard sometimes spiders live in old clothes hanging in the closet untouched for years. Never even thought about that - I was just happy to get into those jeans. The Gold Bond helped. I may have to see if Jim's mothman knows a good spiderman............

Hey Strator and NY Girl - glad to see you up and posting this fine Friday morning. NY - how are the goldilocks? Strator - hanging in there? The sides subsiding a bit? I know you had a rough spell.

Cuteus brings up a good point - the places I get the rash the MOST are where my clothes rub on my skin (although I do also get it on my legs) - ie: bra rubbing and underwear etc.

Try to wear loose shirts and things with a silky material because when I wear sweaters that are tight (well none of my clothes are that tight any longer)...I pay for it big time.

The thing that really helps me is the Gold Bond Trip Action Extra Itch medication. BUT I have to remember to put it on daily and I get bad about that!

Hey congrats! Maybe you will be one of the lucky ones!

Some of the sx would hit in the first 24 hours most likely - some are cummulative - some come at different times (ie: anemia the WORST sx if you ask me)...

But you know...you just may have nothing all along!

I find now at week 21 or 22 (keep forgetting where I am) exhaustion on day after shot is the worst and of course my RibaRash if I don't put on the lotions.

Be careful around week 3 on to make SURE you are monitoring your CBC carefully on a WEEKLY basis for the anemia and just go on living a great life!

Keep telling yourself hey this is a breeze and it will be:)

ok, so we scratch (yes, pun) the second suggestion. back to the drawing board!

My friend has a large aloe plant and I cut the leaves/spikes and peel them. The inside, slimy pulp is the healing factor, you can put it in baggies and freeze, then remove and apply as needed. I used it after a horrible sunburn and I still remember the relief felt. I got no blisters. sometimes the peel contains enough pulp attach and you can use it also.
Puritan's Pride( I am lucky to have an outlet store by me) has a tube of aloe vera gel, 99.9% pure, that is more convenient to use. Take the ferry over and stock up, or you can go online for it. I believe they have their buy one get two sale right now. It is the best time to get my supplements, during that sale.

I lucked out that I only had one horrible itchy spot in the middle of my back, by the bra clasp. maybe because I could not reach with the lotion. I used Ulactin for yrs, and thru tx, and I did not get generalized itching, but I did have the cute bumps in my torso.
I hope you find something soon.
and say Hola for me, to the other Boricuas.

on the bright side though she didn't talk to me the rest of the day.

The doc had mentioned copies for me an I'm seeing him next week, so maybe I'll hit him up then. Wifey ain't talking to me anyway - but incase of the possible change in heart, those could be good to have on hand.....

BTW, I got a clean bill of health too, nothing like some good news here and there. Congrats!

Forsee: Hey sweat-pea, we have some pics you'll just LOVE!

Let's hope FLguy might chime in and treat us to his monologue he ran while getting scoped fom the other end ...gee I sure hope that *was* FLguy

On the pussie riba bumps - didn't know how to spell ussie, tried with a 'Y', but that made for an interesting title.

Anyway, I've had two of the buggers get all nastified. Big ass whitehead on top, but no actual head. Came out of nowhere too. Tried soaking, piercing, and goat entrails. No relief yet. One was 6 weeks ago, and it's a memory. Second one was ummmm... NOW. Suggestions?

Youre my Brother from Another Planet, but I don't want to see pics of your Bum Bumps, sorry but that I WILL NOT do...can you soak in a tub? with not too warm of water? don't know how your skin is...maybe a jucuzz will make them just float away...along with any neigbors who dropped in for a dip, they won't be able to leave fast enough...

Hey I know! my friend who lives in Santa Monica told me that his doc told him the best thing for Riba Rash was sea water, (lotsa people around here have Riba Rash I guess) and dag-nabbit if it wasn't true for him...though I'm sensitive to the fact that not everyone has easy access to the sea...and our Non-Cali and Non-Flori friends might get hyperthermia if they go into their oceans...but he said his morning dip did wonders for the itching, bumps, what have you....youre by a beach if I remember right?

LOL No matter how many times we say it's not that bad people STILL are afraid and won't bx.

Thank you for this post. Maybe it will help to convince some others...it's not nearly like it sounds like it is going to be!

You know we are all in your corner. When everything else goes as smoothly as your bx...you are gonna be like WOW I should have done this a long time ago! :)

Here's to SVR!

do try the Frozen aloe vera gel. or if you have access to the 'leaves' peel them and freeze the 'meat' it works wonders!

or, a snow angel in the nude, after the storm tomorrow...

cuteus - So what do you do, apply the leaves or the meat? This something ya get in a health food place?
As far as your other suggestion...what with my titlted halo reputation around the neighborhood I'm wondering how hard it'll be to scratch with handcuffs on. Can just imagine my city cop son-inlaw getting a call from my town's PD..." Yo brother officer, we got your father-inlaw over here defrostin...nope, says he ain't been drinkin, babblin somethin about a crazy Latino Lady(that'll get me sympathy, his parents and my daughter's Mom are all from Puerto Rico)...askin us to scratch him, now coutesy only goes so far...

fishdoc - How ya farin today? How's the morning after? Posted to you above last night but it was pretty late. Slug some o that water down. Welcome, to 'tx city'. Hope any droppin shoes are soft slippers. Keep us posted how ya feel.

Thanks strator, Expecting the worst, and hopefully being pleasantly surprised is a pretty good coping mechanism. I too hope things go well, as my job is pretty stressful at times also. I am on a compressed work week with everyother friday off, and I was considering taking the work fridays off so I would have three days for a couple of months, but at this rate, it won't necessary! The only thing I am not happy about is my standing orders for blood work only have PCR at 24 weeks, and 48 weeks, but I think the Doc will OK a 12 week. Thanks for the upper... warm fuzzies back at ya.
