Approval

Saw my hepa today. Last fall, he wanted me to wait till harvoni got approved. Todays apt, he reviewed my hx ( GT1a, viral load of 7 Million), and said he wanted me to start on Harvoni for 12 wks.  I'm a vet, got hep C thru the army, and knew that the VA has been in negation w/Gilead to lower their prices. Much to my surprise, my hepa told me that the VA is now paying !!!!! He said he would contact the VA, and I will hear from them next.  Sounds like it's a 'go' for me.

Could be the fact of how you got it from them that they (VA) are approving you for tx.. Funny how that works but the stigma still exists. I feel they want to cure you so you won't telegraph further how you contracted HCV. I have my reasons for saying this. Anyway, it's great news that you will get a chance to shoot for UD and SVR. Keep us posted.

Wonderful news!  And, the VA should be paying for the meds. I am happy to see them stepping up to the plate -- after all, as you said, they caused it!

On to SVR!

This is such great news - for you and for all our vets. I have been so concerned that vets were still on the older, brutal treatments

Good luck and keep us posted!!
