Brain neuropathy

The last couple of nights I've been having what feels like neurological shorts. It started with facial itching kind of like pin pricks and I did develop a cold sore on my lip. Then later when I was sleeping I kept feeling like minor/minute electrical shocks were going through my brain, to the point that I kept waking up. This has gone on for the past two nights.

I am in my 11th week of Sovaldi and Olysio and have been feeling much better with a lot less nausea but now I have this "thing" going on. On a fluke I looked up brain neuropathy and there is indeed such a condition. I've had peripheral neuropathy for 3-4 years now so that's what made me think of brain neuropathy.

Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing while on treatment?

I have peripheral neuropathy from the Hep C and my doctor is wondering if a cure will stop the progression of the neuropathy. Personally, I think it can because much of the inflammation that causes pressure on the nerves will be eliminated.

As for what I called brain neuropathy, it only lasted a couple of days. I think it may have been due to a mild herpes simplex attack. I haven't had a cold sore in many years but think it is possible the S/O may have made me more susceptible. HSV can cause neuropathy.

What is particularly interesting to me is that up until this incident I had been feeling pretty miserable - nausea and fatigue - and afterward felt fine and have continued to feel good up to today. I finish 12 weeks of S/O tomorrow. Yea.

Unfortunately I have neuropathy due to chemotherapy treatment.  Once you are diagnosed there is no cure.  Overtime it typically continues to get worse. Each individual progresses at different speeds, and some can reach a maintenance stage without the typical acceleration.  Have tried every therapy
including acupuncture, medication, and physical therapy.
Wish that I had better news.

Unfortunately peripheral neuropathy often does not improve. But at least it shouldn't get any worse.

I have peripheral neuropathy, 4 weeks after I stopped treatment and with a testing of Undecatable. It seems to be a permanent symptom even though I'm almost cured. The initial weeks of treatment stopped it s sudden advance in its tracks, but the early symptoms don't seem to want to go away. Any comments. Thanks for your time.

Are you on an antidepressant. Some people have what feel like electrical zaps in their heads caused by the SSRI type of antidepressants. Like the others have said, report this to your doctor.

Sorry Sarah I have not heard of this happening to others on Tx.  I'm familiar with neuropathy in the extremities ( peripheral) which does effect the nerves causing numbness and shooting pain.  You may want to call your Dr on this as I've not heard this occurring in the brain.  Not to worry you but it could be
a warning sign.
My best
