I know it was couple if months ago you were writing about this. Hope you'll see this and answer cos at St. Marys hospital, Paddington can't seem to get a straight answer to any ?s. I was on a trial of Sofosbuvir,Daclatasvir and Ribavirin, about 7 or 8 pills daily. Been about 14 weeks since it finished and hep c clear. However, I'm sure before the trial I was told it would be one pill daily and that it would help with the cirrhosis. Have they done a sky one and changed me from the trial to some other treatment. Only found out last year had hep c and cirrhosis on same day. Thought stomach swelling was from being hit by a van.
Update on my treatment with sofosbuvir and GS 5816
I am at the halfway stage, 6 weeks out of 12. Nine out of ten liver function tests are within 'normal' range, including my ALT which has dropped from 96 to 34. The only test outside normal range was AST which had dropped from 101 to 44 (below 36 is considered 'normal' by this particular lab. Bear in mind I have G1A, and am a prior null responder with cirrhosis - supposedly the hardest category to treat,.
An ultrasound scan showed no change to the shape of my liver but my spleen has reduced in size. This all seems like good news but until I hear if they can detect any of the virus in my blood I'm not taking anything for granted.
Very few side effects, negligible in fact. Bit of sleep disturbance but not much else.
Thanks you guys. I was shocked when I saw the report. I did not expect good news. This will encourage me to go in for my yearly check ups :)
That's fantastic news I remember a while back when you told me that your cirrhosis may reverse and it has , you give many of us hope .
Take Care
I meant to say that my newest report says "No signs of cirrhosis" where before they said rough echotexture suggest cirrhosis
