Colon cleansing

I'm on treatment for hep c and I've been thinking about doing a colon cleansing.  A lot of germs and toxins live in our colons and I thought this might be a good time to flush them out along with the Hep c.

Is this safe for me right now?  Has anybody else done it?  How does colon cleansing affect the liver?

I plan on talking to my doctor first but I was hoping some of you might shed some light on the subject.

Yup. They got their degrees alright when it comes to the down netherland. The third degree.

Has any noticed, that the ads to the right of each thread apparently are triggered by key words in the title. Like a lot of colon cleansing ads on the right part of the screen and if you go down to the "vaginal bleeding thread" a lot of vaginal ads :) It's probably been like this for ten years but just wanted you to know how observant I am since I just noticed it today.

I think colon cleansing is just a method used only before a surgical procedure...or for extreme impacted bowels which can be deadly. I wouldn't do it unless the Dr. prescribes it. I think it depletes your body of needed electrolytes and such. Don't sound like a good thing to me. I'd call your nurse.

DR Goofy and DR can do man, if you please.

I have heard of such cleansings, and they might be a bit much to do while on tx.
this one from the Mayo clinic
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/colon-cleansing/AN00065

if you do not have frequent constipation, you do not have anything lurking in there, our intestines have cilia that move things out and away.  unless there are pockets in the colon (you can have a colonoscopy to find out), nothing is grabbing and holding on within. a normal colon, with normal function does not need the magic cleansing.
if you have colon problems, went through diagnostic tests to rule out serious conditions, and fiber alone does not make things to regularly move out, maybe consider it.  unless you swallowed weird stuff that can't come out by itself, well, you get the pic.

Personally, I wouldn't do anything of this nature without first discussing with Goofy and Can Do Man.
