treatment did not work

During my treatment my liver returned to normal. All reading were very good.
But the hepc continues to be there.
They want to do a liver byopsy and see what damage my liver has.
I have Hep c type 2. I guess I am in the 20% group that the treatment dosen't work on.
I am at a loss to know what to do next. The treatment was somewhat hard for 6 months. The only real side effect I had was extreme tiredness sometimes. It makes it difficult as I work at a physical job.
He did suggest another round of treatment but the percentage goes down as being succesfull. They would add one more drug which would make me even more tired.
If any one could offer advice it would be greatly appreciated.
I have not idea how I contacted it or when. I have never done drugs not even pot.
I have drunk moderatly all my life and spent a number of years in the music business.
A friend suggested maybe it was from my ear priecing in the late 70's.
  Thank you for reading...

Yes. Wait for the new all oral treatment of Sofosbuvir + Ribavirin. It should be available in about a year. Only 12 weeks of treatment with little side effects.

Meanwhile get a biopsy to see how advanced your liver disease is.

How you got hep C is irrelevant at this point. You can't changed the past. Look to the future and being cured.

Good luck.

There are new very effective drugs that will be available within the year to genotype 2, according to the latest from Gilead Sciences.
Side effects are minimal. If your liver is in good condition you should be able to wait a year or so until that become available.
Talk to your Doctor about it and check out research studies in your area, you may get lucky with a study using the non interferon combination .

In the meantime don't drink alcohol, eat wholesome foods and drink coffee. (weird, I know but studies have shown 3+ cups a day slows replication of the virus)
