Hep C /Lymphoma

Hi, crazy worrier here!
Has anyone with Hep C also been diagnosed with Lymphoma? I hate google!
My Fiance found out he had Hep C last summer. Slightly elevated liver enzyme. There is no sign of any organ disease or damage yet. I finally relaxed on googling hep c every two minutes....NOW he has a tiny swollen lymph node on the right lower/middle side of his neck. Hardly noticeable, of courseI noticed. I googled. Lymphoma of course showed up, and Hep C is a risk factor. His doctor gave him an antibiotic, which I don't think it's bacterial. Anyway, just wondering how common it is. Thanks, guys!

To put this in perspective for you, I have been working in the hep C community since 1994 and have talked to hundreds of patients over the last 20 years. I know of one lymphoma patient. A swollen lymph node in the neck is very common. An unnoticeable scratch on the head or neck can cause the swelling. It is probably nothing serious.

The likelyhood of Lymphoma is possible but very rare.  Would guesstimate less then 1-2%.  The more realistic fear from Hep C and possible liver damage is the risk of liver cancer.  Also rare but it does occur.
As Dontworry has said, your boyfriend needs to eliminate his Hep C.  The new meds are curing people with minimum side effects.  If it were me, I would be more concerned with harboring this virus, then the slight chance of getting Lymphoma.  Honestly this should be his #1 priority.
Good luck to you both

Welcome to the forum.  Sounds like your fiance has an infection.   I don't know exactly what the stats are on Lymphoma and Hepatitis C.  I really don't
believe it is real common.  I have know of one member on this for who had
non-hodgkins Lymphoma and Hepatitis C.  I have personally only known one.

I can say that the fact that Hepatitis C is connected to Lymphoma and
other blood disorders is a very good reason to treat your hepatitis C.  There is now new treatment for hepatitis C.   Your fiance need to see a doctor and get on treatment so you don't have to worry about him getting something else.

Hepatits C treatment has advanced to a very doable experience.  Tell him
to get to the doctor.

Hope this helps
