Hi hector ,,, yes that's what I thought , but no to the list of comps , my levels are pretty descent , my HIV is well managed but my T cells are low due to the Hcv so they tell me and that I've had both for so long , I want to hold out for the non interferon option but I fear it's to late for that and I live a lot of he tim e in the uk so will be doing treatment over here , tho there seems to be more trials I could do in sf . May have to move back for a while if I can't stick the drugs on this regime .many thanks for the tips , it's been a roller coaster ride , not one I'd pay a ticket for lol . Andrew
Andrew,
You say that you have cirrhosis (stage 4 liver disease) and a Fibroscan score was 30.3 kpa. The Fibroscan score indicates very advanced cirrhosis. Have you had complications from your cirrhosis? Such as ascites (fluid build up in the abdomen), swelling of the lower legs, ankles and feet, bursting varices (vomiting blood), Hepatic encephalopathy (forgetfulness, confusion, getting lost in places you know, stupor or coma)?
Do you take any drugs to treat these complications of cirrhosis? Diurectics, Lactulose, Xifaxan, Nadolol or Propranolol?
If you haven't had these complications you are still healthy enough to still treat your hepatitis C. I would talk to your hepatologist and get their advice as to what the best treatment for you is taking account of the meds you take for your HIV.
When you have the complication I mentioned above (called decompensated cirrhosis) you will probably be too ill to treat your hep C and will need a transplant from a donor to cure your liver disease. You can then treat your hepatitis C after your transplant.
Hope this helps.
Hector
