Hello and welcome other posts

I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I never find time to get online these days. It was so good to see Genedog, scruffy, DD, TNHep, and others I haven't seen around lately. So glad you are all still coming by. Congrats to those who have learned of SVR and non-detectable status, best of luck to those starting out. (My stats 45 yo F, Geno 1b, starting vl 650,000, week 29 of 48 and feeling quite well, undetectable week 24.) Please use this space for questions.

Hi John !

Long time no see, how you doing?

Things here are going good, keeping as busy as my body will alllow me to...

I started a Chinese herb, vitamin, diet and exercise regimen 6 weeks ago and I am starting to feel a bit better...My liver pain is not as prominant as it had been and my energy level is just slightly starting to improve, almost to where I can do a reasonable jaunt on my treadmill...But, eating a liver freindly diet sucks!  LOL..It's very hard to discipline myself to eat all the proper foods and amounts...But, so far so good, I am sticking to it 100%...I have a lot of years to keep this fibrosis level at bay and will do anything humanly possible to achieve that...Although sometimes I must admit, it seems unattainable...I hear from this forum that the new drugs are right around the corner, not so sure I believe that...At least not here in Canada anyway...

What's going on with you?  How you feeling?

you folks who don't get biopsies, how can you stand it? remember, some drs don't want you to give biopsies cause it comes out of thier pockets...but if the alt/ast shows the liver cells "are" dieing...i would insist on a biopsy...

the platlets are effected as you get close to cirhosis partially due to portal hypertension, this means the liver insn't functioning right and the blood isn't going through it the right way,and its effecting the spleen...so are you sure you want the dr to wait until then to encourage a biopsy???

my alt and ast was in the 80's, with a very low viral count of 500,000 iu and completely normal blood work...and my biopsy shows i'm almost at cirhosis. and i still have normal platlets!!!  i had to fight to get a biopsy from the dr and he was shocked to see the damage...i think these drs are nuts...how can they not want biopsies? ...those fibroscans are just not a sure thing you know...also how can folks still be refering to the viral numbers as an indicator of a healthy liver? remember, they have nothing to do with the amount of liver damage a person has...

if i were you guys i would insist on a biopsy...don't you want to know about the reality of how your liver is doing???  ...biopsies are not that bad...is it fear that keeps you from them? if you get the "twilite sedation" there is no pain or discomfort...it is a breeze! very few folks that come here over the years have had a problem with thier biopsies, (perhaps 1%), i've only heard of a few cases on this board over the years i've been coming. this is extreemly valuble information for making the decision to wait or go on tx...

for years the folks on this forum have stressed how important they are...they are still considered the gold standard of how to find out the condition of your liver...you will see if you look at the archives. why do you say, "folks arn't stessing biopsies anymore"??? is everyone now putting their trust in fibroscans? i hope not...they just ar'nt fullproof.

At the risk of sounding repetetive, here are the things I have tried:
Liquid herbal extracts-felt good for a while, but numbers got worse.

Zhang's protocol-didn't feel any different, numbers were high but stable.

Multivitamin without iron: Life Force Multiple. Helped at first, but I think I reacted to some things in there, and felt much worse. Improvement right after I stopped.

Apple Cider Vinegar: No blood tests yet, but it has apparently made positive changes to my body-particularly muscles, mood, etc. I only take 1 teaspoon per day in water, and I am thinking of increasing it. My chiro and massage therapist (also very helpful, as far as immune system, etc.) have both noticed changes in my muscles, and my massage therapist is actually really surprised at the change. After her doing deep tissue on me for 5 years, and a lot of pain during them, my last 3 have pretty much been pain free since ACV. Both note muscles more pliable.

I used to have to take that 3 times per day when I was a kid and sick, and hated it. I actually like it now. I won't advise anyone to take it, it's not my business, but everyone is different, and so far, this one has worked for me. I hope the numbers bear this out as well. I should add it is a good body detoxifier and cleanser.

I have a ton of links on it if anyone wants them, let me know.

So far, I have tried many different things looking for what will help me the best. Maybe I have found it, maybe not. ACV has so many important enzymes in it, as well as a good antioxidant, it is almost like taking a vitamin as well.

Wow!  That's truly inspiring!  I know you realize how lucky you are that it's been a relatively smooth ride so far.  It's amazing that these drugs affect people so differently.  I think there would be fewer fence-sitters, like me, if we knew we'd have the kind of experience that you're having.

Thank you for the update.  I hope the last few months of this journey are equally uneventful.

Best wishes to you,
Susan

The thread below was closed so I'll respond here.  No...I'm being raked over the coals by Kalio for my shrouded reference to another Mr. No Name!  Sorry for the confusion.
