apple cider vinegar!! wow, I have been taking that too, per my ND instruction...I am soooo glad to hear you are showing positive results...I take mine in a tablespoon of green tea, something about the vinegar and tea mix is supposed to be enhanced, not sure, have to ask next time I go...

I didn't think so. I try to be careful about giving tx advice, and how one should manage themselves, as we are all unique. I can't explain why those vitamins made me feel worse. I was really quite disappointed.
veg....I would be most interested in what you mentioned. How have your results been?
I know they say that how we feel goes in cycles and varies, but all I know is that I was feeling worse and worse until I started taking it. The first few days I had a healing crisis of sorts, but slowly, I notice changes too.
I think one reason I was so willing to try it even though I hated it as a kid, was that I kept reading how good it was at detoxing the body, and especially the liver and kidneys. In a way, ACV is like taking a multivitamin because of all of the beneficial vitamins, minerals, and enzymes in it.
My docs wife even takes it every day (he is not an ND).
The ACV I use is from www.bragg.com . I have their book on it as well as other ACV books.
Red wine vinegar and balsamic vinegar is also very good for the body as well.
Post below was closed so I'll jump in here...
Jim - my pre tx VL was 122,000 (and change - I forget exactly how much), bx showed stage 1 grade 2, I am on 180 Pegasys per week + 1000 Copeg. My weight is about 148. I'm on 40,000 Procrit weekly, 50mg Trazadone daily, prilosec, advair, flonase and allegra for sinus and now synthroid for the thyroid fiasco. Yikes! Before all this I wouldn't take as much as an aspirin unless I thought I heard the pearly gates being opened! Did I leave anything out?
Cuteus - I'm thinking they will do a PCR 30 days after the end of tx - I think that's the most common time for relapse. I'm sure one will be done within 3 months of stopping. I will ask on my next appointment and keep you posted.
Goofy - Ultimately it is my decision to stop treatment at 24 weeks. If I insist on continuing they will not object. However, I know what they think I should do and I'm inclined to agree with them. As for a second opinion, the doctors at Mayo work as a team, so I'm not just hearing this from one person. They admit that this is new ground for them, but they think there may be some real changes in length of tx based on what they have recently learned. As for me, the sx are beating this old body and what's left of my mind into the ground, and if it's in any way true that there is no additional advantage to be gained by pumping in double the amount of the toxic stuff, I'm all for throwing in the towel. (Let's just hope I'm not driving the bus into a brick wall! How good am I at mixed metaphors!!?) Anyway, this isn't written in stone yet - I haven't had the final meeting to completely discuss this. The decision will be made after the next set of lab tests in early December. Will let everyone know what transpires. Life may be painful, but it's never dull!
I knew nothing about it till she said to use it as part of my daily regimen...I can tell you this though, I eleminated salt from my diet and it was real hard for me cause I love salt, but the apple cider vinegar kind of makes it okay...I take it just before supper so I have the vinear taste before I start to eat and it seems to compensate for the salt...strange, eh...hey, whatever works is okay with me!!!..I have degenerative disk disease so after hearing you have some changes in muscles I am hoping my back will benefit too...I love hearing all the good things about the alternative approaches...I hope I have better luck with my herbs than you and Jim did though!
*dip*
I hope you have better luck with the herbs too. I had high hopes for each that I tried, and I give my PCP credit for supporting me. Ultimately, I made the decision to start and stop.
As far as DDD, that's a tough one. Some people have it with little pain, some people have it with incredible pain. Some massage work might help you.
I take the ACV with breakfast. I read on one site that I didn't bookmark that some HIV patients who took it regularly 3 times per day saw significant drops in viral load and increases in CD counts, and when they stopped, both numbers reversed. Some said they even went undetectable while on it.
Hard to substantiate that stuff though.
I am not taking it to try to reduce or eliminate my vl, I am taking it to hopefully help my liver. A friend of mine got me interested in it, as his sister who was a nurse (went into holistic med) told his family to take it, and he told me how much he felt it helped him.
Funny about the salt thing. Eliminating the salt as well as the benefits of ACV will be good for your blood pressure, that is if it's an issue.
I should mention one other thing. They say it can break down gall stones and kidney stones. I never had symptoms of kidney stones before, but at about day 3, I got some minor symptoms that went away in a couple of days. It is possible it broke down/eliminated some gravel.
It literally sat on my counter for weeks before I started using it. My wife and I use it every day.
another thing I do that was part of the regimen list from the ND is first thing in the morning, before I even take my vitamins, I drink a cup of warm water with 1 lemon squeezed in it...Not sure what this does either, but I do it...
