I got both hep A and B vaccines a few years ago, but the Hep B vaccine did not take. My current doctor told me that if the Hep B vaccine did not take the last time, then I should not get it again, because it is likely that it will not take this time. According to my doctor, the Hep A vaccine usually takes, but it is not uncommon for the Hep B vaccine to not work...you can take a test after to see if the Hep B vaccine worked.
You definitely don't want HepB. Unlike C, it can be suppressed but not exterminated.
Yes, apparently when you have hep c, hep a or could rapidly excelerate liver issues. I had the vaccines. You have to go in 3 times over the course of months. I was told i did not need to delay treatment until after i had finished the entire series. Also, after I took the first two and my hepatologist told me that the antibodies were already present based on blood work so I did not need the third.
Yes, last year my dr. had me get the b vaccine before starting triple tx.
Yes I got A and B years ago. Could be deadly with C.
I'll call hep doc tomorrow to arrange this. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
ya I got A and B vaccine before I started tx
All routine and flu hot and pneumonia too for cirrhotics as our immune system are weak.
You don't want to get a virus or bacteria as it can be very dangerous for persons with stage 4 liver disease.
Another form of hepatitis could injury your liver terribly if you already have damage form having chronic hep C for decades.

Thanks very much for the replies.
Very routine, I have been recently diagnosed with hep c and have already gotten 2 of the required 3 hep b shots. I have been accepted in to a study and study doc said that was totally fine and that I could go ahead and get my 3rd shot in nov while on treatment.
Hi Zako, yes most of us have had the hep a and hep b shots, I am to start treatment soon and that was the first thing that the dr wanted me to do is get those shots.. I think that is the norm for most anyone who is going to treat.. welcome to the forum
