Keep an eye on your teeth during Tx

by Vic1967, Oct 20, 2009 11:36AM
Ugh!  I went to the dentist for my 6 month cleaning.  The last time was right before I started.  I needed to get 5 teeth worked on!!  I almost cried.  Even they were surprised.  When I mentioned some of the side effects including the dry mouth they all gave me the "Aha!" look.
My mouth gets really dry at night.  The first few months it was really bad, but i have gotten a better handle on it.
Anyway, they told me had they known we would have looked at me every 3 months.
Just to FYI to be extra diligent with your dental care during treatment.
Thank God I have a good dental plan.
They gave me some stuff for dry mouth (after the 2 and 1/2hours of drilling :( .

I used Biotene to brush my teeth and alcohol free mouthwash. I was on the 3 month plan before tx because of gum disease, but besides losing one tooth the beginning of the year, my gums have gotten better. I know all about the dry mouth. I had a glass of water on hand at all times because it would go unexpectedly bone dry and it was embarrasing.
