Liver Biopsy Results

Should I start TX now or wait until next year ?    Bx:Portal tracts contain mild to moderate chronic inflammation composed mostly of lymphocytes, with few cells. The lobular parenchyma shows a mild increase in sinusoidal monouclear cells, with plasma foci of hepatocellar dropout and a rare acidophil body noted. Central veins are indentified and unremarkable. Trichrome stains reveals a mild increase in portal and periportal tissue, which is confined to portal tracks themselves. Iron stain shows few scattered periportal and perisinusoidal hepatocytes with stainable iron. reticulin stain is unremarkable.
Can this be explained in English?

I am about the most un-herb person around here.  I know nothing about them except I try to kill dandelions, it's almost a hobby.  But, take a deepr look into licorice.

Whatever you do be aware of "chinese" herbs because these can seriously alter your liver enzymes. As you might know...when a liver cell dies it releases an enzyme so the higher the level...the more cell death and liver damage is being done.  It's very important to try and prevent any further damage obviously.

Nothing will cure the disaese though except interferon and ribavirin.

Deciding to treat in your case is a personal decision. I had to because I was already stage 3 when I was diagnosed. I treated for 72 weeks and worked the whole time. It wasn't always pleasant but it can be done.

Good luck with your decision - whatever you do make sure you have a good support system and good insurance when you go to treat.  It will make all the difference in the world.

Thanks- I appreciate the insight.  I am starting a regiment of Herbs for this next year. Nothing scientific, juts several Herbs that I have seen to show some promise.
Lactoferin
Collostrum
Milk-thistle
Licororice
Dandelion
Vitamin C
Vitamin E
Zinc,
Ginsen

2X a day for 90 days-

I will document my intake and monitor LFT every three months. If this doesn't Help- I will go for a trial of Peg/In- Jan 09.

I will have to wait until next year before- I will have the time to take the Tx.  (work related duties)- Thanks

I would say your are grade 1 or maybe 2 (inflammation) and stage 1 bordering on 2 (fibrosis).  Your biopsy report reads fairly close to mine.  I have had two - both grade 1, stage 1.

I suggest you read in the Janis 7 site about biospies

http://janis7hepc.com/biopsy.htm

There are a lot of reasons to treat besides the biopsy but thre is movement from the portal triads which is the first place infection starts, but you are a long way from bridging.    Grade and stage 1 and 2 are pretty good -- depending on how long you hve been infected.  I chose to treat because it was the right time in my life.  Kids out of the house, job stable and to a point where I could slack a little, husband supportive and great insurance.
