Yes Orpha, I called "Economic reasons" their corporate greed. They are willing to let our livers suffer the damage as long as they can make more profit.
I already signed it, and I told all my friends and familiy too.
Best regards,
If you call" economic reasons" corporate greed, then yes, that's why the trials stopped.
Gilead bought Pharmassette that invented 7977 and is refusing to work with Bristol Myers despite the amazing success in initial clinical trials~ 100% cure rate for genotype 1 and minimal side effects.
Please sign the petition to urge Gilead to put patient's health before profits.

I am sad to hear you relapsed, I think the most promising drug out there is the GS-7977 as Hector told you. Here are the results:

Some say it would be better if combined with daclatasvir, but it seems that trials stopped due to economic reasons:

GS-7977 mihgt be out for sale early 2015.
Best regards,
I am very sorry to heat that you relapsed after treatment. I am glad you have a positive attitude.
If I were you I would keep an eye out for an upcoming trial with GS-7977 (now called "Sofosbuvir") for patients with cirrhosis.
"GS-7977 and Ribavirin in Patients With Chronic HCV With Cirrhosis and Portal Hypertension With or Without Liver Decompensation"
ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT01687257
http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01687257?term=gs-7977&rank=7
Purpose:
"This is a multicenter, Open-Label, Randomized Study to Investigate the Safety and Efficacy of GS-7977 and Ribavirin Administered for 24 weeks in Patients Infected with Chronic HCV with Cirrhosis and Portal Hypertension with or without Liver Decompensation. Approximately 50 subjects (25 per group) will be randomized (1:1) to either receive study drug for 24 weeks or take part in an untreated observational arm for the first 24 weeks followed by study drug for another 24 weeks."
"Criteria
Inclusion Criteria:
Chronic infection with Hepatitis C with HCV RNA > 1000 IU/mL
Subjects with cirrhosis with Child-Pugh score 6 mmHg
Body mass index (BMI) >/= 18 kg/m2
Naïve to all nucleotides/nucleoside treatments for chronic HCV infection
Exclusion Criteria:
Have any serious or active medical or psychiatric illness which, in the opinion of the investigator, would interfere with subject treatment, assessment, or compliance
HIV or chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection (HBsAg positive)
Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) > 50 unless negative imaging for hepatic masses within the last 6 months or during screening
Refractory ascites as defined by requiring paracentesis > twice within 1 month prior to screening
Active variceal bleeding within 6 months of screening
Expected survival of < 1 year
History of hepatorenal, or hepatopulmonary syndrome.
Evidence of renal impairment (CrCl < 50 mL/min)
History of major organ transplantation, including liver transplant."
This is a phase II trial.
I hope you are in contact with a transplant center as this trial will be very small and only have 50 patients so access to trials is critical. Each transplant center may only have 4 or less patients in the trial. Otherwise it could be years before it becomes available to consumers. And waiting could be a problem for you as far as your liver disease is concerned.
I am in a pre-transplant Gilead trial for us with Hep C, liver cancer awaiting transplant. The 2 drugs are GS-7977 ("Sofosbuvir") and ribavirin. It is an all oral treatment. Interferon free. Side effects are minimal so far. "An Open-Label Study to Explore the Clinical Efficacy of GS 7977 With Ribavirin Administered Pre-Transplant in Preventing Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) Recurrence Post-Transplant" ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT01559844
You can contact Contact: JoAnn Dyangko, BS 650-372-7168 JoAnn.***@**** for more information about the upcoming trail for cirrhotics.
Good luck!
Hang in there. You have a winning attitude.
Hector
I am very sorry to hear this news. I know it must be devastating. There will be new drugs and next time you will attain SVR.
I do know there are some promising drugs in trial studies. Others know more about them than I do. Some people on the forum are in some of those trials. Maybe some of them will respond.
