Pain again in the lining of liver

Ok so this is going on 2 months now and it has me kind of concerned. I have been told that it's not the liver "per say" but the lining or membrane surrounding the liver that is causing my pain. The pain feels like it's caught on something and can't work it's self lose. The pain is stabbing and makes me bend over, it hurt worse when I try to breath or straighten up. I massage the area but it takes time for it to relax away. Last month I found a lump which is the size of a small marble. That's where the pain comes from. Anybody had this? Any ideas please. In 2012 I had an AFP test came back negative...
Thx
Deb

BTW.  The AFP is not always an indicator for disease.
As a cancer survivor my AFP is never tested as it lacks accuracy.
People would never do biopsies or follow-up scans if this one blood test was able to predict cancer.  It's not reliable.

Deb.   If you feel a lump you need to investigate further.  Not to worry you but its important to find out what it is if only for piece of mind.  Chances are that it's nothing but do get it checked.

Sorry for your pain.  Remember that not everything is related to Treatment.
I had that kind of pain when my gallbladder was acting up.   Also, when I had a hernia just under my chest.

Hope you feel better soon

Doing well, thanks for asking.  Got an appt tomorrow to find out my Week 17 (well, plus a couple of days lol) Labs.  Can't wait!

Hang in there!

Will say that i used to have pains like that and in that area, back before I was eating correctly - used to have a LOT of gas - maybe that was pressing on that nerve.  Interesting to think about.  Glad I have not had the problem in several years.

Hope you all find your solutions and feel better.  Pain makes everything worse!

Hugs!  Pat

Hi August! Yep I think I'm going to get an MRI it's been about two yrs if I remember right. Last one was before triple therapy with incivek, guess it's time. I will feel better if i know what is or isn't there. Thanks for your suggestion I have been going back and forth with the MRI thing for almost two mos now...I hope you are feeling well. Didn't I see where you cleared the beast? My memory comes and goes so sorry if I'm incorrect..at any rate hope this finds you well and take care.....

Ekkiemom, you are right. The liver sits in a capsule and while the liver does not have nerve endings the capsule does. So when the liver is inflammed it causes that capsule to hurt. There is also a nerve that runs from the capsule to the diaphragm and often that will cause pain the right shoulder and the arm. Some people complain that taking a deep breath causes pain in the shoulder and neck. I imagine it is that darn nerve again.

I have had that for years now. It feels like someone is sticking a knife or a fist in your side. I too have a particularly tender spot but I have cirrhosis. I have to get an MRI done every 6 months and have for 3 years. My AFP has been elevated for years, but I can put a doc't hand right on it and it is obvious there is a knot there. I think you would do yourself good to get one. I have ad docs tell me it us nit your liver and that it does not hurt, well I beg to differ. It does.
