Post tx - Yukky fingernails

I realize that in the big scope of hepatitis C and the horrors of treatment, this is diddlysquat.

But-my fingernails are a total mess. They have always grown fast. I always keep them short. I work extensively with my hands, from carpentry, electronic assembly, hooking rugs, etc. my hands take a beating and they're tough. I've never had problems save for an occasional broken nail.

Since stopping tx, my fingernails always crack, chip, and break, no matter how short I trim them. One nail (different one each time) always has some kind of chip that gets snagged and tears down to the quick. Another nail is rippled and will not grow out smoothly. All my fingers have hangnails. I do not chew my nails. My toenails are fine. I lavish on the moisturizer.

I'm finding this a huge nuisance and for the ones that tear, painful. I eat lots of veggies and have taken to eating jello. Any suggestions? Anyone else with the same problem?
