My husband starts treatment on Monday.......Thanks for the input. I will definitely be on the site often.............
Well I think that waiting to see how your husband does is a very good idea. The liver bypass is also another issue that may affect tx for him, but I don't know how as I don't know what it is. It sure sounds serious. You could learn alot by reading this forum about what others go thru during tx. this forum has been a Godsend for me as I didn't know anything and don't think I ever will, but I have learned alot.lol Next time you or your husband goes to see the doctor, think of some questions that you would like answered. Also, next time either of you has blood tests done, ask for a copy of the results and try to figure out what it all means, it's really not that difficult and ppl on this forum are extremely helpful and knowledgable. You will have to wait at least a week to get blood work results, but you could always ask for a copy of previous blood tests taken. It helps alot to know what VL is, but especially what the results of a biopsy were. This janis link will help you in understanding AST, ALT, viral load and tx in general. good luck to both of you

Yes I do live with my husband. Still not sure what I am going to do. I am going to wait and see how my husband does for a few months. We live in Canada not far from Toronto. We could both go off on sick benefits and could stop work and still get about 80% of are wages so the money will not be a problem. I only know that I have hepc and both of us have had it for probably over 25 years. We are both 50. This is terrible but I am not even sure what my husband counts are he mentions something about 1 and 2. I feel terrible that I don't understand more. He just out of the blue decided to do treatment. I will go with him on Monday when he gets his first shot and the nurse will go over things with us both. I will probably give him his needle at home after this. He is also taking 6 pills a day and is going to be treated for 52 weeks. The doctor said they can tell if it is working after 3 months. He did have a liver bypass.
Well you're right, and I don't even know that gonzo lives with her husband. I could see where in a situation like you have with comeagain, that it could work to your benefit and obviously did. good luck
My opinion is that it is better to get it over with. With the reservation that we do not live together anymore, I feel that the fact that Comeagain and I treated simultaneously has meant a great increase of support and understanding to both of us. We have both had an invested interest in learning about hepatitis C and thus helped each other greatly.
Comeagain started his first tx, 24 weeks, in September 2006. He wanted me to wait, but I felt I had to get started on my recovery process as well, so I started tx two months later. It turned out I was a slow responder so I had to treat for 72 weeks. Then Comeagain relapsed. He restarted his second tx, this time 48 weeks, in January 2008, and I was done in March 2008.
So if I should have waited to treat until Comeagain was cured, how long should I have waited? He still has a way to go to his 6 month post PCR.
Yeah I see what you're saying, but txing can be extremely difficult for some. Also, you could have just posted on your other thread and kept it in one package. My wife isn't HepC positive, but I attempted tx and I went thru a very grueling experience. Granted, not everyone is 55 and has health problems the way I do, but I really think you need to read around a bit more. Some ppl can't even make it to work, I can only see the both of you txing at the same time as being irresponsible. If both of you work, then it could create problems and lead to financial disaster. If both of you don't work, then you could drive each other nuts.lol It's the weekend, so it's a little slow, but I'm sure someone else will chime in. good luck
