Hi Johnny..I see by your profile that you were just diagnosed 2 years ago...if I am reading it right. Are you sure that you contracted it 2 years ago...as yes to be stage 2 in 2 years is very non-typical.
Best to you...
Will
Hi Deb. I read you were in the hospital, hope you're feeling better. I liked hearing about how you went off on the doctor, you sound like me girl :)
I cannot wrap my head around "Stage 2" after only 2 years of infection. I spoke to one of the only HCV/HIV+ guys I know... he is only Stage 1 after 5 years of infection.
...actually that's what I was afraid of...
Thanks guys. We all know treatment is different for everyone. Can-do glad you're doing well, continued success! Frijole good luck on your next round, show us all the new drugs work :) Willbb, I'm waiting it out with you...
Hey ya Johnny,
I remember you I just wanted to say hi. With only being infected 2 years ago and already being stage 2 you got to keep a close eye on it because it appears you are advancing dreadfully rapidly.
As Cando said Dietrich is one of the best (we are so lucky to live in the geography we do with these doctors available to us) so I am sure you are in great hands.
I just wanted to wish you the best,
Deb
With Dr. Dietrich you should be in good hands....... Best to you guy.
frijole... " My opinion is the 3-drug treatment will be worse than the 2-drug treatment -- how could it not."
Thats what i thought, but at least for me it wasn't, besides the anemia being worse i did better then on my first tx...... Go figure.
cando
Sounds like you have options. Dietrich, I am sure will guide you through better than any of us. My opinion is the 3-drug treatment will be worse than the 2-drug treatment -- how could it not. I plan to do it, but I go into it knowing it is not a cakewalk. From what you have said, you should probably wait until you can do tretment without interferon
frijole
Biopsy last month. I see Dietrich at Mt Sinai in NYC, as well as my HIV specialist. Dietrich seems to be hopeful for a non-Interferon drug therapy in the future as well, but it's not a reality in sight just now, just a hope. Approaching 50 myself, with an HIV co-infection, I seriously doubt my body could handle treatment again.
Hi John....Sorry to hear about you having such a hard time of it on Soc and then not being able to clear .
I don"t think anyone can really give you approval, per se to live with Hep C, however with St.2 you would probably have some time to wait out better and more efficient drugs. As you probably know there are many trials going on today without intereferon and hopfully this will become a reality in the future. I guess when this will happen is really an unknown at this point.
I am also waiting to re- treat and am also fortunatre enough to have minimal damage at this point. but being over 50 and male...it is always a bit of a tense waiting game.
When was your last bioppsy and are you still being seen regularly by a Hepa or G.I.
Will
I had a very difficult time with the drugs on my first treatment, and failed. There is a lot of hope with the new class of drugs but my issue is that they are still paired with Ribovirin and Interferon, the drugs that nearly killed me and destroyed my life for over a year. My excitement about the new drugs is very low. I may be fishing for approval to live with HepC for the time being, I'm too afraid to try again.. Stage 2 doesn't sound that bad to me
Hi John.. not sure what you mean by thoughts on St. 2? It is considered mild to moderate damage. Are you going to re-treat with one of the new DAA"s?
Good luck...
Will
