Taking oxycotin along with treatment--anyone?

Husband has been taking oxycotin for severe back pain for a number of years.
Currently in 5th month of treatment but he is miserable at some point of every day.
Viral load zero at 3 months (riba/interferon)  which is the good news!
But he is having lots of bad treatment symptoms, and a new one of excessive phlegm?
On a different blood pressure med as well to try and protect liver more.

Anyone out there on oxycotin doing treatment?  Anyone with excessive phlegm?

Good luck/God speed everyone--we are having a tough time so I know how alot of you feel.

This question comes up quite a bit, after you get what you need take a look at the archives.  Here's my thinking on this topic, if your husband has never been an IV user and has never been addicted to opiate drugs, even vicodin.  Then there's a chance that he will be ok, but it don't take long to get hooked on oxy.  They don't call it Hillbilly Heroin for nothing.  With that said your husband is in pain so he needs something, it's totally a decision between him and his doctor.  About the phlegm I've never heard of that symptom before, but I've never heard of anyone on oxy going through HepC treatment at the same time either.  In my opinion methadone is a safer prescription drug, but you get hooked on that as well.  Good Luck

Feel your pain, I was in a head on collision, coma, many broken  bones, they freely  would give me oxycotin.

I have a high pain threshold though and I am not a floorer, I just choose other ways to deal with pain.

A person has got to do for themselves what out weighs what.

As far as phlem, I had that for awhile, sort of weird! But it passed,   so think that is ok,

Oxycotin is not good for liver, but Doctors must feel his pain out weighs the liver damage.

Unless he has  built up a habit.

Good luck

Lots of people take different pain meds but remember - they aren't good for his liver so he should take them as little as possible. However if he's been taking them regularly for a while he has a nice habit already and it won't be very easy to get off of them (thanks Doctors) so there really won't be any choice in the matter without switching over to Suboxone or Methadone.

Good luck it's a hard place to be in.
