Side affects

Hi everyone.. New to forum. Started solvaldi an ribasphere yesterday an within hours was vomiting diarrhea shaking.  Dr. Does not think it's related to meds.  But stopped until mon.  Will try again in a few days.  Has anyone had this reaction.  I'm terrified I cannot finish tx.

Nurse held. Hey Jo,  just noticed u mentioned that u had a dose reduction due to labs,. Dr. Said  there was a possibility of anemia during tx.  Should I be concerned if they decide to reduce dosage?  Is that just a precaution to reverse labs that are not within the normal range or what.  Does that reduction in dose lengthen your treatment?? Thank Jo

I  restarted tx. This a.m. An so far no n/v going on like Friday.  Doctor was pretty sure it was not medication related, much to my relief..I'm beginning to believe it was a trip to k.f.c. Buffet fri. Aft.!!  A good dose of food poisoning, I'm thinking.. Anyway, thanks everyone for the encouragement not to give up hope that quickly so far as tx. Goes.  I'm a greenhorn, so to speak about the different types of hoc an from what I've been told, that genotype 2 is the easiest to cure. It does sound like there has been huge  breakthroughs in treatment for all types of this devastating virus.  We are all truly blessed for all the dedication these doctors an scientists that have dedicated their lives to finding a cure.  I know personally in the early 90s I never thought I would see such improvement in the treatment.  So I'm hoping to get to know everyone an maybe I can help someone an return the favor in the next few mths,   God bless

Welcome and best wishes as you restart your treatment.   It helps me to make sure I eat enough when I take the Ribavirin.  Some protein and healthy fat.  I am drawn to fruits and veges and seem to have lost my sweet tooth.  I'm taking that as a plus!

It's nice to have this community of folks who really understand the journey.  I am grateful!

Hi and welcome    Do agree, a great caring group of people here.   Kinda a follow up to see how your doing.   Nausea is a side effect for some, but vomiting, diarrhea, ect not to common.  Seems you may have caught a virus, but you still need to double check with your doc.   These are fairly new meds and everyone reacts differently so just be aware.  I do hope that all is now well, and you were able to continue.  Should you have questions or concerns please be sure to ask.   Alot of us have finished, or currently on treatment, and we were helped by everyone that went before us.  So now we are here for you!   Be well and keep us posted.         ..Kim

I'm very excited about finding this site.  The support is wonderful as I have no one to talk to or get feedback or suggestion or just moral support going thru this.  I'm scared I won't be strong enough mentally to get thru this difficult time.  So this is a God send.  God bless everyone

Might be a good idea to look and see if there are any drugs that you are currently taking that are listed on the FDA's drug interactions list and tell your doctor if something shows up. When I was on Inceivek triple therapy two years ago my second day started with the same symptoms. The specialist I saw said to always dumb things down as much as possible when on any hep c treatment regarding supplements, diet and other meds if you can. Maybe your doctor will want to reduce the ribivarin and then increase it with time.

I felt a little spacy and with headaches the first few days...but I carried on with life. I had a pretty hefty drop in my rbcs-Hgb-Hct the first couple of weeks...and stopped exercising...struggled through work for a week. But my bloods have rebounded enough after a dose reduction of the ribasphere to where I feel pretty awesome right now!  I am hoping the best for you... From what I hear from folks that did interferon in the past...this was a whole lot easier for them. Jo

Thanks so much for responding.  Will attempt to restart possibly tomorrow if diarrhea / nausea clears up.  Hopefully it was bad timing with a possible bug I picked up somewhere at the time started tx.  Today feeling better so far..  I pray I get thru it.  Been HIV genotype 2 since 1992. So it's time for tx.  Tried interferon but couldn't finish 6 mths sue to severe side affects.  Just felt like the same symptoms I experienced in the 90s.  Thanks so much again

I am sorry about your sides. I have not had any of the sides you have had, and have not heard of anyone else on just ribavirin/ribasphere and sovaldi having those sides. I am on day 30 of these drugs. That said, each of us have different bodies with different sensitivities/allergies...

Hopefully, your reaction was not due to the drugs, and that the ill effects you experienced can be chalked up to coincidental timing with your first dose. Good luck on your next attempt. Jo
