Week nine of triple therapy. (issues need answers)

I am in week 9 of therapy. Having several issues. Bad rash with itching, mild nausea, low energy and shortness of breath. Bloodwork at week 4 showed neg. viral levels but hemoglobyn was low. Started taxing Procrit 3 weeks ago. Today I noticed blood passing with urination. Has anyone had this problem? Callled Pharmacy still waiting for return call. Friday night everyones gone for the weekend. Thinking about going to emergency room.

Just saw this. That's scary. I haven't had any blood. All the other side effects sound common to tx. Has ur Dr called u back? Of course the weird scary stuff always happens on Friday night. While ur waiting for the call back, research the archives. There's sooo much, it may take time. Try and not get over anxious. It's a knee jerk reaction when we're on tx. But it muddles up ur thinking. Maybe write down what you wanna say to dr when they call. Put it down in ur medhelp journal. Then you'll be more concise.. I really hope this helps u feel better. Please keep us posted. I'm fairly new at this online thing. I'll send good vibes n prayers. Gonna go cuddle up w my ice bags. Lots of posts on itching... Good lick, Karen :)

Are there any other unusual symptoms you are having? Any pain or urgent need to urinate? Are you urinating often? Have you ever had kidney stones or a urinary infection? Is your urine red with or without clots or pink?

Blood in your urine isn't something to take lightly. If you continue to bleed and can't get medical treatment for any reason I would recommend going to the ER. Even if the bleeding stops you should mention it to your PCP as something is wrong and you don't want to ignore it.

Good luck!
Hector

I agree with the ER suggestion. You could have a urinary tract infection or maybe you even passed or are in the process of passing something.  Do you have burning urination? Frequency and urgency and burning and pain can be signs of a urinary infection. Blood can be part of this as well.
But lots of things could be going on and a medical doctor really needs to evaluate you to determine what is wrong!
You should not delay so you can get treated quickly and prevent complications like a growing traveling infection. I hope you can be easily treated.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Here is an update on my situation. The pharmacist finally called back late Friday or early Sat. morn. I explained what was going on. She said that I should discontinue the Procritt and contact my Doctor on Monday morning. She also said to keep an eye on my urine and if there continues to be blood in it to go to the E.R. It is now Sat. afternoon and no more blood has passed since the first time.
My Doctor has me on Ambien to help me sleep because my rash is so bothersome at night so I am just now getting around for the day.
Again thanks for all the response and I'll let you know how things go.

So glad to hear you got to speak with someone and that you have no more blood!  I will pray it stays that way!  If it is the Procrit, I hope they can figure that problem out so you can continue with it.
I can only imaging how scary these things can be.
Keep us posted.- Debbie

Don't forget to drink lots of water and cranberry juice (the real stuff not the stuff with all the sugar) could prove to be beneficial.  Good luck!

Would cranberry pills or cranberry sauce serve the same purpose? I am not crazy about cranberry juice but if thats what it takes I'll do it.  Thanks
