Why r you taking Lexipro and what is Lexipro for?
Lexapro is an anti depressant. I was told by my MD to start taking them prior tx.
My doc hasn't said a thing to me...I am on my 2nd week of tx. !rst week was worse...I will see dr. 4/6/07 and go from there. I am looking for another dr. I would like to see a Liver specialist rather than the gastroenterologist i am seeing now. When you mentioned feeling a Zoom..that sounds good to me. I am pretty dang tired. Best of Luck to you!
A lot of Hep docs reccommend taking an anti-depressant prior to starting treatment. The combo therapy that we are on can cause some rather serious depression, especially in people who have had a history of depression, but it will cause it in some who have never had depression too.
I was already on an AD prior to TX and even being on it I had to up the meds and add another AD to keep from being weepy I mean I would cry for no reason at all, a song, movie, even a sappy commercial. It was getting ridiculous.
I tried Lexapro for a while and it was ok for me ... you just have to remember to take it early in the day as it can cause insomnia. The first 3 days I was on it I probably only got about 6 hrs sleep total. I finally started taking it at about noon and was able to sleep at night. Also some people it will make them tired so you have to find out how it affects you and adjust the timing. Good luck
My doc prescribed sertraline which is a generic zoloft. I take 200 mg in the morning and I'm set for the day. Almost nothing fazes me...almost. There are days still...Something else that helps is the brain fog. I generally forget what's upset me.
But not everyone needs them. I have not taken any and I am on week 24 and no need for them yet.
Mty Doc gave me Cetalopram.......I refused to take it....I didn't want to be a one of those drool and shuffle dudes......lol....
But my Team Doc gave me Hydroxyzine pamoate 25 mg's for sleep and it actaully carries over thru the day and keeps me Mellow...It actually knocks the Edge off... I take 2 at night for sleep and the hangover from it works for me thru out the whole day......
I'm pretty sure I need them and even got a script for prozac but have been holding off taking them coz I started seeing a therapist and want to see if that helps with the depression before I add another daily med.
But if that doesn't work, i'm gonna take the prozac.
The most important thing is the AD doesn't hurt your liver, one reason they prescribe lexapro. My mom is taking lexapro,(not for hep) it seems popular right now.
I don't take anything other than mj. I try to meditate which works well for anxiety. My theory is the low levels of blood cells caused by the interferon, makes us depressed. I haven't felt as low since I started taking neupogen.
Do what you need to do. Remember, nothing lasts, and the emotional outbursts are side effects. Good luck.
AD's is a tx subject that has baffled me for a long time. I realize that there are some people who need them, should have them prescribed and should take them. What I don't understand are the docs who prescribe them before symptons are exhibited. Not all people on tx are depressesd.
I started taking Paxill a month before tx at the hept docs advice and found out I probably have needed it for years and never knew it.
Your body will acclimate to taking the new med and get used to it so it doesn't make you speedy. The paxill kept making me fall asleep for a month but after that.....now...........nothing.
I love the stuff and am not going off it even though treatment is now over for me.
Well,I was up at 2 last night until 4:30. I imagine this is what I have to look forward to during tx. Took another Lexapro today. I know.....a positive attitude is everything.
I'm trying....I'm really trying :)
lexapro reportedly has a milder sx profile than the other ssris. the feeling reported by many is that it makes your head feel like it's in a bubble. that usually goes away after several weeks, as does the nausea that some feel. have taken lexapro in the past, wasnt very effective. im taking welbutrin now, it works for me.
