Worried about possible disease risk

Hi Dr's

I have been very worried about something.  My family and I  recently traveled to India.  While there,we visited a beautiful popular temple.  Before entering the temple , everyone had to walk through some water to essentially cleanse the bottom of their feet.  It was about the size of a large puddle.  I did not pay much attention..but i did not see any ongoing running water to this "puddle" of water.  Anyways, my daughter later showed me a non bleeding healing cut on her toe. It was at least one day old but still red. No dark scarb had formed yet.  Is there a risk of any bloodborne disease through this scenario. Since then , her toe has healed fine.   I am very scared as I am unfamiliar with India and its disease statistics.  I just know they have a poor  population.

Of course we did not drink the water!!!! And we were not in a village either.  I am no longer worried bc the cut was closed and healing.  Our bodies are strong and the place we went to is a tourist attraction.  Thanks for ur concern

Yes, you should most def consult with a doctor asap.

I have many friends who live and visit India. I am surprised that you were not informed about the poor water conditions! I do hope that your family never drank any open water! A friend had one sip of un-bottled water and was in the hospital for more than a week.

Many of the nationals living there build up a tolerance to all the bugs in the water but the visitors do not! Glad to hear that your kid does not show any signs at this point but do not take any chances and see a doctor as soon as possible.

I won't describe what they put into the rivers! Very scary!
