I had similar problem during myTreatment ( my evil twin wasn't a "people person", but developed coping mechanisms:  I avoided talking with people that I knew were difficult/annoying, to communicate with, as much as possible, and I also made sure to go to bed early everynight, so as not to over-do it.
The one time that I had a screaming out-burst, was the only day where I went out at night, to watch my sons' Play.  I could feel myself getting over-agitated...if you pay close attention, you will find that there are small warning signs.  When you feel a temper-tantrum coming on, you can at least warn loved ones, although at when you are at work, your co-workers may not know what you are going thru, so that is a tough one.

timq, Congratulations on your 2 1/2 years clean and sober!!!!
I wouldn't trade mine for nuttin'!

If you did this with the help of a 12-step program, go back and re-work the 12 steps. I am in week 36 of triple with Incivek and this round is bearable compared to my previous 3 while using (but not drinking for 18 years) and have been an active friend of Bill's for the last 3 years and couldn't have done it without him!

I have found the best thing for me is to keep my mouth shut as much as possible (not always possible!) and if it still seems to justifiable anger to me when I wake up the next day, I can act on it. Well usually long before the next day I see that it was all in my head and I am SO glad I kept my mouth shut as I don't have to go back and make amends for being in the wrong and hurting someone. So much easier!!!

Good Luck,
Chris

Eating it seemed to hit me more physically~ made me hungry and got rid of my muscle pain.

However, the claim is that different strains are better for different ailments.

As stated before this community is on the cutting edge of treatment and helping each other to survive the course of treatment. congrats to hawk on ridding yourself of the virus...the issue of THC causing fibrosis as far as I could tell didn't differentiate between the method of ingestion and the effects.  In states where medical use is legal the options for obtaining "edibles" makes the need to smoke unnecessary. But I believe better studies are needed but in light of the alternatives smoking vaping or eating pot to reduce what one would have to take at least 3 or 4 drugs to do the same job ( at as some testify not nearly as effective) is better then suffering  through treatment.

I was curious about it as I have a friend who has asked me about this, eating versus smoking...I have ZERO experience with this topic...it had come up in this thread so I thought I'd ask, since I had read about it in a few places. I suppose there are pros and cons to everything...

There was one very flawed study which claimed marijuana was bad for your liver.
It was flawed because all the participants were heavy drinkers.

We've had this discussion here before. Smoke per se might not be good for our livers, that is why it had been suggested to use a vaporizer.

I ate cannabis brownies during tx to relieve muscle pain. It worked. (http://www.cdc.gov/hepatitis/c/cFAQ.htm

How long does the Hepatitis C virus survive outside the body?

The Hepatitis C virus can survive outside the body at room temperature, on environmental surfaces, for at least 16 hours but no longer than 4 days.Cannabis is recommended for fibramyalga)
I'd eat one after my interferon shot each week. No harm done and I'm SVR !

Marijuana smoking does not appear to cause progression of liver fibrosis in the Canadian HIV/HCV Co-infection Cohort study

April 2012

Authors:Brunet L, Moodie EE, Rollet K, Tyndall M, Potter M, Conway B, Walmsley S, Pick N, Cooper C, Cox J, Klein MB for the Canadian Co-infection Cohort (CTN222)
Location: 21st Annual Canadian Conference on HIV/AIDS Research (CAHR 2012) Montreal

Background:

The literature on the effect of cannabis
on liver diseases is conflicting. Cell cultures and animal model studies
conclude that cannabidiol could have a therapeutic effect on liver
injuries. However, cross-sectional studies of chronic HCV
patients suggest that daily cannabis use is associated with fibrosis
and steatosis. This study aims at estimating the causal effect of
marijuana use on liver fibrosis progression in the Canadian Co-infection Cohort study.

Methods:

HIV/HCV
co-infected individuals were followed-up every six month. At each
visit, they provided information on marijuana use which was then
categorized as (1) did not use, (2) used occasionally, (3) used daily,
≤4 joints/day, and (4) used daily, >4 joints/day, based on the
median. To account for time-dependent confounding, marginal structural
pooled logistic regression models were used to assess the effect of
marijuana use on progression to significant fibrosis (APRI>=1.5).
Baseline (age, sex, ethnicity, low income, duration of HCV infection) and updated characteristics (CD4 cell count, HIV
viral load, antiretroviral therapy, alcohol use, illicit opioid use and
other IDU) were included in the inverse probability of treatment
weights calculation.

Results:

A total of 843 patients contributed 3,914 person-visits and
161 progressed to significant fibrosis. At baseline, 52% had smoked
marijuana in the past 6 months (median: 2 joints/day [IQR: 1-4]), of
whom 37% smoked daily; 40% smoked to relieve symptoms, 42% to increase
appetite, and 46% for fun. There was no causal association between
progression to liver fibrosis and smoking occasionally (OR: 0.81 [95%
CI: 0.49-1.34]), smoking ≤4 joints daily (OR: 0.47 [0.19-1.15]), or
smoking >4 joints daily (OR: 1.26 [0.61-2.63]), compared to
individuals who did not smoke.

PS I would after seeing how biased the medical community can be believe anything that site was saying. Number on you are talking about a foundation that was started by a person that lied and manipulated millions of people to believe he was so pure until it was found out that he was the biggest most  complex blood doper cheater and he put pressure on all those around him to do the same.  That study holds no water to the latest and studies that show cannabis can even increase lung function. Fibrosis is a ***** granted aggravated and aided by many things but tobacco smoking is far worse...it's all in the risk benefit...

So true but the avenue for metabolism for anything usually has several pathways depending on the metabolites that are created. The kidneys play a large role, but also metabolism can occur just about anywhere. But to your point..when I first found out I had HCV my liver panel was not so good. I had activity and damage was occurring. When I entered the program I had already made lifestyle changes that I believe helped my liver in many aspects.  I was part of a study that didn't involve the VA hospital but my infection was discovered at the VA hospital. Of course I was inundated with how to take care of my liver by reducing any drinking to 2 drinks a day. I thought this rather funny because one knows alcohol can cause damage. By ceasing all of the load on my liver from motrin, fatty foods and many other meds and foods that increase the chance of fatty liver issues I was able to bring all my levels down to normal. In fact you couldn't tell I even had a 15 Mil viral load by liver panels (they lie anyways)..my point is YES everything has some effect on the liver..but good eating and sleeping help you to heal.  They all tell you to take motrin for the chills plus interferon itself puts a load on your liver. If you could eliminate 2 or 3 drugs and replace them with THC I believe you would suffer LESS damage and help yourself with eating better and sleeping better in your course of treatment.  My liver panels get thrown off by lots of wonderful drugs they treat me with.....but so far Cannabis has not been one of them. Not for everybody but a miracle for those who have multiple side effects and don't want to take multiple drugs to make matters worse.

I thought that everything we ingest, breathe etc is metabolized by the liver?

I was reading about the effects of THC on liver. Is that ok to put in your body... if you are trying to protect your liver...either by eating it or smoking it?

Quote...from only of the many sources I have looked at...

Liver

Ongoing research targeted at the effects of marijuana on the liver reveal possible complications in people with existing hepatitis. Hepatitis Central explains that international studies show people with current liver complications who use marijuana daily are more likely to also develop severe liver fibrosis and have an increased risk for fibrosis progression.

and I applaud you for that....however if I had a choice between sobriety and weighing less then 150 lbs (Im a tad over 6 foot) I have to choose to eat and live.  I have lived with people in recovery all my life so I know how hard it is to balance your hard earned road to sobriety with the kinds of treatments you decide to embark on. I assume that if you were in severe pain you would not take any opiates also?

Do you guys have Medical Cannabis?  You may still want to hurt people because of the interferon but your aim will be so far off you will be a useless shot....also sleep should get many hours of restful sleep after eating a "special" brownie!

How does one know when they actually caught this virus? I had a dx for this right after 9/11 and am guess from the current level of activity and social risk factors I got it maybe in the 1990's....but if you believe your husband got this back in the 60's or 70's then maybe I did get this from a unsterilized air gun used to give inductees shots before entering the military.  I was unaware of anyone large scale infection occurring before the mid 1980's..please enlighten

It usually takes having the virus a long time before symptoms begin to appear.  My husband has had Hep C for 38+ years, had no symptoms, was diagnosed in 2007.  The only symptom we've noticed over the past 5 years, other than side effects to treatments, is fatigue.
So, in response to your question about anger, as others have said, this is a common side effect of Interferon.  It can cause moodiness, irritability, depression, anger, and aggressive behavior.  My husband has worked full time through 3 Interferon based treatments in 5 years, I can vouch for the fact that Interferon can cause some psychological/behavioral changes.  His doctor did put him on an antidepressant before he started his first treatment, and he has continued to take an antidepressant through 3 failed treatments and in between.  It definitely helps.  We are each responsible for our own behavior and how we treat others.

Yes, I experienced this too....I feel the medication made me resentful and extra sensitive...I really had to put blinders on and put one foot in front of the other....I couldn't/can't let people get to me...it feels too dangerous or something...Talking to other people helps (especially here)...I see a therapist (thank God I started that pre tx) and it was good to be able to vent to him too...I didn't take AD's but if I had to do it again, I might.   Good luck, and keep us posted.  You are definitely not alone.

I can certainly identify with your issues.  Eleven years ago I went through 48 weeks of pegasys/ribavirin therapy and much the same symptoms.  They used to joke that they didn't know which Garry was going to show up to work, the nice Garry they knew or the evil Garry.  Antidepressants were a big help, but cutting back on my hours helped more.  You do really need to talk to your doctor about it, because depression can have disasterous consequences.

I'm currently on triple treatment with incivek, also at 6 weeks, but this time I'm retired and not working at all.  I have to tell you it's a different ballgame when you don't have to go to work.  Last time I had a small stroke at about 9 mos of treatment, and this time my blood pressure has actually gotten better.  Probably because of the weight I've lost since starting treatment.

I hope this helps.  Feel free to write again.  We're about the same place in treatment now.  I relapsed last time so I get to finish 48 weeks this time, so I'll be around for a while.  I was ND at 4 weeks and have 6 more weeks on incivek.  Hope to hear from you.

Yes, that's a common side effect.
Can it get worse? Maybe. It can also change.
Treatment is a roller coaster.

You might want to talk to your doctor about antidepressants which do help many.

From the interferon web site concerning side effects:

Mental health problems and suicide. PEGASYS therapy may cause you to develop mood or behavioral problems, including:

    irritability (getting upset easily)
depression (feeling low, feeling bad about yourself or feeling hopeless), and anxiety
    aggressive behavior
former drug addicts may fall back into drug addiction or overdose
thoughts of hurting yourself or others, or suicide
