"before tx i was 2 and 2 and Dr said it seem like i have became less like a 1 and 1."
I'm sorry to hear your bad news, that was something positive that your doctor said though, and if you feel better in a couple or three weeks, then it wasn't wasted tx. Keep the faith, you may have bought yourself some quality time=years. God Bless
Hi Sandy, I'm hoping along with the others that this is a false positive for you. It's encouraging to read the posts of others with similar results who ended up being UND and SVR after additional tests and I'm hoping that's how it turns out for you. One step at a time, Sandy. Sufficient for the day are the events therein - now that's a paraphrase of a verse from the bible but my rose-coloured glasses won't let me say "evil" instead of "events" :)
Hang in there and hang with us. Take care, Sandy.
Trish
Sorry to hear this, but it is possible that it is a false positive. "ReturntoSender" had a false positive - or whether it was truly positive? and his body knocked it out?,,,but winds up he had the test done a few times after the 'false positive" and it wound up - thank God- that he is SVR now....
I am txing and was UND from week 3 and at week 9 or someone around there (tired can't remember) it showed "61 vl",,,,,my hep doc says its a false positive - he sees them all the time he says,,,,I told him I am not comfortable with it cause not once first tx did I get a false positive, but he still says it is, so nothing at this point I can do. It now is UND again...
I hope that yours is a false positive, these things do happen unfortunately and yes they can drive us up a wall, but we can only wait and hope that its not true. I pray that its a false positive for you and if not, that your body will rid it.

First let me say that I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time. Remember that we're always going to be here for you, no matter how difficult it gets, but I know it can be nerve wracking.
I'm with the folks up top who think your numbers sound so suspiciously low that you should retest before you start worrying about them. Because it sounds like the "type" of numbers you see with a false positive, or cross contamination, or sometimes a virus on its way to svr theoretically, I suppose... Whatever the reason for it, I would just ask for the retest in a month, then see what that result brings.
Rats. Wish I could change it. Hang in there. Stay positive.
Lets hope it's a false test, but if not what alternatives do the Drs give. My six month had a inconclusive and I need to be retested. Why don't they do a number of tests at the same time to rule out this type of ****. I'm flipped and can't do anything....but pray.
Harry
I'm so sorry about your news. I hope and pray that it was a false.
All the best!!!
Marcia
Don't give up hope! I know bad news is hard to take at first, but there is always a Morning. I'll be praying for you and hoping you get some peace in this matter.
Cindy
I think it was NYgirl who also ran into a similar deal and evolved into svr.
---------------------
Yes. I can't remember exactly which one it was (i will try and search but I'm not so great at it) but one of my post tx PCRs came back at a count of 61 or something stupid. The doctor called other doctors to double check and said that nobody ever heard of a number such as this being a 'real' number. He insisted it was a false positive and that I retest in a month.
Well I was sure he was yanking my chain and that this number was real and he was trying to soften the blow.
However of course I waited and retested. Imagine my SHOCK when it came back UND and it has remainned that way throughout the past 18 months! I DID achieve SVR!
With these tests there is a slight but realistic chance of cross contamination. These are after all virus' and I guess if you handle the equipment and blood all day (well I don't understand). BUT this has happened BEFORE and not only just to me!
Every once in a while you will find one of these EXTREMELY low numbers come back after someone has been UND for quite a while and they DO turn out to be false.
There is a chance. As the doc explainned to me once the virus starts to replicate the chances would be it would be atleast in the 100s of thousands NOT just one a day per ml - after all it's a VIRUS!
I'm glad I listened. I hope you don't get TOO upset and you do wait a few weeks and retest.
I don't remember all your stats but it worked for me. It is very possible the same situation is YOURS.
HANG IN THERE!
Sorry I got to this so late wouldn't even have seen it if not for FLGUy!
First sorry about your news girl, but try not to worry to much. You should have plenty of time to try with newer drugs. I've been stage 4 grade 2 for over 3 years now. Still kickin and driving my kids crazy, and so will you:)
Will soon be treating again in one of the new trials, still feeling good and raising h@ll here. best to you.

pS i do take anxiety meds..Xanax..thank goodness
i cleared at 24 weeks and the research i was on was inferon and ribivirin.. the study doesnt allow me to go 72 weeks.. but oh well.. I should still have time to wait for new meds, before tx i was 2 and 2 and Dr said it seem like i have became less like a 1 and 1.. but Only GOD knows that..I just got so weak when i heard the news..But i have a Uncle who has relapsed at least 3 times and he is still kicking around... I went thru anxiety thinking i dont wanna leave my kids, and grands, they need me Sorry to give yall my burden but i needed someone to talk to.. Iam still down but feel more like a semi hit me..LOL.. also the dr said sometimes that could be a false positive... we will retest in 3 mths...close isnt good enough..i guess several here has relapsed,.. its hard to pick up the pieces..but i will.. well may GOD take care of all yall.. Sandy
So sorry about the results. I will keep you in my thoughts, perhaps has the others have said you can re-test.
I am sorry,
Good luck
peace
rita
Sorry about the test results. Like "FLGuy" says, please ask your doctor for a re-test in a few weeks. Several members have tested for low level virus shortly after treatment only to become undetectible on a re-test. A number of theories have been put forth including false positives. Certainly don't want to give you unrealistic expectations, but you have nothing to lose with a re-test. One good one for someone in your position is Quest's "HCV RNA QUALITATIVE TMA".
I think it was NYgirl who also ran into a similar deal and evolved into svr. It doesn't sound good, but not all is lost. Have another pcr scheduled for a couple of weeks down the road? It may be a good idea.
You recently finished, in the last week or so. When was the last Peg and last riba. When was the blood draw for that pcr? It has happened before that a pcr recently after tx might show a vl and then later pcr could prove und. I'll leave to a few others to explain the situation.
Jim, I think you've read and written about this before.
My heart aches for you - what devastating news to receive. Could this be a false positive? 91 is a pretty low VL, you should ask for another test.
May I ask, at what point did you go UND?
I will keep a good thought for you. I'm hoping a retest will show that you are clear. Hang in there, and maybe ask for something for the anxiety while this gets sorted out. Good luck.
jd
I'm sorry to hear the news....What will you do?
Do you have time to wait for the new meds?
Sorry to hear your virus is back. You did mention you didnt clear till week 24. That would mean you would have to extend to 72 weeks. You had replied you were in a study? So I didnt know what you were saying.
If you are undetected by week 24 and remain UND. you must do 72 weeks....................
I wish you all th luck in the next go around if you decide to tx again.
What kind of research were you in? You did mention research?
GOOD LUCK
