Black stool may indicate the presence of gastro-intestinal bleeding and should not be ignored -- did your husband's doctor schedule him for endoscopy or colonoscopy ?  Since your husband stopped the treatments, I'm presuming he still has active hep c.  If your husband has not had assessment of liver damage recently, it would be important to know his status, via biopsy if possible.

My husband has cirrhosis, and he's had gradual weight loss, but he had extra weight to lose, and it was not at the rate of 15 pounds in two months -- is your husband trying to lose weight?  If you have more information (bloodwork results, or more specific details from him or his doctor) perhaps we could add something more.  Hope that helps.  ~eureka
