I found this in doing some research you all may have saw it not sure :

Background and Aims: Current treatment for genotype (GT) 2 or 3 hepatitis C virus infection is pegylated interferon and ribavirin (RBV) 800 mg/d for 24 weeks. This meta-analysis was carried out to assess whether the treatment duration can be reduced in patients with rapid virologic response (RVR)

Methods: Literature was searched for studies comparing short-term (12 to 16 wk) and 24 weeks treatment in GT 2 or 3 with RVR.

Results: Six studies (n=2434) were included and data on end-of-treatment response (ETR), sustained virologic response (SVR), and relapse rates (RR) were obtained. Pooled odds ratio (95% CI) for SVR and RR were 0.54 (0.35-0.85; P=0.008) and 3.12 (1.99-4.91; P<0.00001) favoring 24 weeks of treatment. Reducing treatment duration to 12 to 16 weeks and retreating relapses for 24 weeks was cost-effective.

Conclusions: Reducing treatment duration to 12 to 16 weeks for GT 2 or 3 HCV patients with RVR is associated with a lower SVR and a higher RR. Advantages of short-term treatment include better patient compliance, lower rate of adverse effects, and cost. Short-term treatment may be an option for patients unable to tolerate treatment. Further studies are needed to identify factors predicting relapse with short-term treatment in GT 2 or 3 patients with RVR.

Yesssss.. I am so glad you are feeling ok.  I took my second shot last night with no side effects.  Everyone keeps saying it takes several weeks for the medication to kick in!? If it stays like this or gets worse WE WILL STILL MAKE IT THROUGH !!!!!

Congrats on getting started and having no reaction to the first peg injection.  After all the anticipation, I also had no reaction after the first shot and none thereafter.  It takes a while for the meds to build up in your system.  The first few weeks I felt little to nothing, but as time went on, fatigue and the other sides began to kick in.  Don't worry and anticipate, just take things a day at a time and roll with it.  You have many here going though the same thing, so remember we can all do this together.

contact Incivek customer care line and you will probably qualify to get them for free...I had private insurance and they can tell you in a couple of minutes....same with pegasys
call both now!  Before you set up your deliveries,, then if you qualify, they will give you codes to give your pharmacy for the price reduction.
Sounds to me since you aren't on medicade, you will qualify for free incivek!
you can find both numbers by going to their websites

Usually cereal, english muffin and coffee for breakfast.  Sometimes cook oatmeal or eggs/toast on the weekend when more time.  Wish I lived closer to Pooh so I could stop by for breakfast each morning.  Almost lunch time and you just made me very hungry :o)

The reason to take riba with a meal is to avoid nausea ( according to my nurse)
So, use your reaction to guide you.

The literature says to take Ribavirin with a substantial meal. I have tried to find more information because "substantial" means different things to different people. I did find this:

Effect of Food on Absorption of Ribavirin
Bioavailability of a single oral dose of Ribavirin was increased by co-administration with a high-fat meal. The absorption was slowed (Tmax was doubled) and the AUC0-192h and Cmax increased by 42% and 66%, respectively, when Ribavirin tablets were taken with a high-fat meal compared with fasting conditions [see Dosage and Administration (2.1) and Patient Counseling Information (17)].

http://www.drugs.com/pro/ribavirin.html

Of course, that is with a single dose. It is also cmparing the high fat with fasting conditions. Usually I have seen "take Ribavirin with a substantial meal."

I do try to eat a regular meal and if it does not contain much fat I add some extra butter on toast, butter in hot cereal, whipping cream in coffee or on fruit, a cup of eggnog, or Greek yogurt.

For breakfast I usually have eggs, 2 slices of bacon, toast with butter, and fruit. Also coffee (containing half and half). Sometimes I do have cooked whole grain cereal but I always add about 2 tablespoons of butter to it and usually some raisens or dried fruit. One could use whipping cream instead. I usually have some bacon with the cereal, some fruit, and coffee with half and half. When I eat cereal I may take the Ribavirin with eggnog just to get the fat and calories up. (I do not eat dry cereal.) In the eve I eat a regular meal of some meat, a vegetable or two, maybe some fruit, some condiments (olives, pickles, etc.). I have no appetite in the eve so I add those condiments to make the meat (which on these meds seems to have zero appealing taste) more appealing. It is working. If I don't think I ate enough to equal what the literature might consider a substantial meal, I take the Ribavirin with eggnog (along with the food) or some yogurt.

Hope that helps.

Since I'm not taking incivek anymore I do a small snack like 1/2 a english muffin with jam and some coffee, before taking my morning riba dose.
