At 56 years of age I had a blood test with 874 ferritin level should i be concerned

Do you have hepatitis c?
Yes you should be concerned enough to get a diagnoses.

Was your iron within norms?
What is the status of your liver? Ever have a liver biopsy?

A high ferritin level and a normal serum iron can be caused by a number of different illnesses.Liver disease, diabetes, arthritis or asthma and hypothyroidism

I was tested a few years ago for Hep and came back negative.  Recently I had a blood test and liver enzymes slightly elevated but ferritin level way out of line at 874 when normal is 330.  Otherwise I have some occassional abdominal pain and right sided chest pain.  Always tired/ready for a nap and knees and shoulder joints are slightly arthritic.

no this was first time in years i had blood work done and just never paid attention to it before

I have an appointment with  a Gastro Dr. next month but was wondering if these levels were high enough if I should try and move it up
