I don't go to this site much, but glad I read it now. I'm sorry for your knowledge of the virus in you. Actually, I'm not sorry, because for me it changed the way I've lived. I eat much healthier now and have stopped the occasionally binge all together, that means NO ALCOHOL. I found it quite easy to do as my health was so much more important.( my only regret now is having to watch some of my friends heading down the slippery slope to hell in the morning!)
I drove the Baja this winter, all the way from Canada to the tip and back,a month and a half(5000 km), I never felt ill at all and seemed to have lots of energy too, we did some mountainbike riding down there. My girlfriend said something to me after I found out I had hep-c , " You know, you'll probably out live most of the people that don't have hep-c because now you'll have to eat right and exercise, and there will be no booze in your life." ummh!!!!!
Anyway, I wish you all the best in dealing with OUR virus and I found the treatment was tolerable after you got into it. My side effects were skin rashes here and there, itchy too, muscle cramps, tired, very tired, especially the day after the shot. I took the shot just before bed, once a week too, but a half an hour before the shot I took a gravol pill( for sea sickness) and a Tylenol. I slept ok through the night, but was totally weak the next morning, so I relaxed , watched movies all day or read. What also helped a lot too was smoking medical marijuana at times throughout the week, it gave me an appetite and took away the nausea, and it also gave me a brighter out look on life. I talked to a nurse and she suggested not to eat it, because as you know, everything passes through your liver.
I don't know if any of this helped you or anyone else out there with hep-c, but I wish everyone of us the best.
I am sorry that treatment did not work r u sure that your doctor kept you on tx long enought? I also am Geno type 1a we have the hardest to eradicate from the liver but, it is possible in a matter of fact 50 % success. What was your VL before treatment and your VL at 4wks, 8wks,12wks and 24wks . With Geno 1 which is a bugger sometimes it takes longer to see results. I have also know people who did not get the rsults the first time but did the second or third time. I am also in treatment right now starting my 3rd month and i am seeing positive results. I do know that as we get older it is harder to fight but its possible. Do you have any other medical problems and what was your stage when u started treatment? How much interferon were u injecting weekly and how much Riba daily? I know that this club we all belong to has many disapointments but with hope and a pray we will all find ar way, God bless you.
None that I've heard of and there are certainly more knowledgeable peeps than me, but from what I've been reading,,,, NO... although anything is possible, taking the supplements advised, living healthy and possibly trying again, or waiting for a better treatment.. Good luck,,, this is a big boat we're all in.
