No disrespect to anyone but something sounds off. I too am of the opinion that you cannot get HCV thru kissing. Still very sorry to hear what has happen. Best to you both
Kinda confused!
Very sorry about your girlfriend. Hep C is not transmitted thru kissing. From what you've explained it appears that you are still Hep C free.
It can take up to 6 months after exposure for low levels of the virus to become detected. Could it be that she only carries the antibodies and is not currently infected? Could she have been exposed thru blood exchange in some other way? Perhaps from a dentist or health care worker?
Will say I was married for 20 years, had 2 children, did not know I was Hep C positive the entire time and did not use protection. My husband and children never acquired the virus even giving birth.
It's so hard to speculate where this virus comes from. One thing for certain is that its usually not spread thru sexual intimacy.
Hope that Tx will eventually stop destroying so many lives.
Take care

she started having stomach pain and feeling bad last month. she does not have health insurance but she kept feeling worse so last week paid for the tests. I am really angry with my doctors who told me I was okay, you may not be okay. my first try with the older meds in 2011 drove me crazy, literally and I had to wait till solvaldi came out late 2013. its the copeguyus or ribasphere that caused me the side effects as it was still a tough 12 weeks as those two drugs were given with the solvaldi and almost two months after before I could function very well, side effects were horrible. but I got two clean reports as previously stated and we have remain faithful to the Lord regarding our physical relationship. this is a warning to those who think they are okay, I can tell you , you may not be even with a none detectible geno 1a blood test. deep kissing is what caused this. so help me God. yes she has had previous blood tests due to stomach problems for other reasons, no elevated alt, ast or low RBC nothing. . this is outrageous...(I had 8 pints of blood in the 70's at different times)
Wow that is a tough one. First, I'm very sorry. I've been married for 26 years and diagnosed for 14. My husband has never been infected and we kiss all the time, but always use protection as I don't trust it. Again, I'm very sorry. Had she ever been tested before is my question. Mine came out if left field as I had no indicators for getting it so I thought. I had a blood transfusion in 1990 but thought is was safe, I also worked in the healthcare industry all my life, I also got injected with AirJet guns. I have to assume I got it from the transfusion, but I really do not know.
