Yes, I also developed Rosacea, I think it was during the treatement with Peg and
Riba and it remain after, Derm doc told be it probably be a chronic situation.

thanks for the information....I have been on steroid cream because my face becomes so inflammed and I loose skin from the inflammed areas. I will check out the Linda Sy site. My dermo does think the severe overnight inflammation 2 weeks off of the tx. was due to my immune system. My face looked like it was scaled and I lost all the skin on my face.
Thanks and Blessings,
sadd
Just wanted to add that the evening regimen, like the morning, starts with Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser (with water). Here's the link to the Linda Sy site. I think they still offer a "sampler" pack of products for five or ten bucks. http://www.****.com
I probably developed rosacea during treatment but it may have been masked because of the psoriasis and other skin irritations it might have been layered with. At the end of treatment the psoriasis receded and I definitely had rosacea on face and perhaps the neck although I had mutliple diagnosis re the neck.
The rosacea on the face was very sensitive to the sun and just about anything else. At one point I had to limit almost all irritants including water and only use cetaphil cleanser (waterless) and cetaphil moisturizer.
For the first year after treatment there was little that seemed to help other than avoiding irritants such as sun, hot, cold, wind, red wine, spicy food, too much exercise, and otc topicals. I kidd you not.
Now, two years post treatment the rosacea is pretty much in check or at least manageable. I still need a strong sunblock in the summer but can pretty much go about the rest of my life without having to wince when looking into the mirror.
After visiting mutliple dermatologists here's a regimen that works pretty well, at least fo me.
Morning: Cetaphil Cleanser followed by Clindamycin followed by a moisturizer followed by a gentle sunscreen such as Cetaphil or one of the Blue Lizard products.
Evening: Alternate Metrogel 1% gel on nose and affected areas with either OTC Rezamid (stronger) or Sodium Sulfaxetamide 10% and Sulfur 5% lotion. If any scaling, I then add Elidel Cream. Sometimes I mix all three together and apply depending on whether there's more redness, more postules or more scaling. The Metrogel seems to work best for redness, the Razmid or Sodium for pustules (pimples) and the Elidel for scaling. Seriously considered laser treatments but seem to have it under control not to mention the expense.
Like TnHepGuy, I was congratulated by one of my top doc consultants on finishing treatment but he said he never heard about tx-induced rosacea and would get back to me after checking around. He never did.
The derms also don't tie it with HCV, so after awhile I stopped talking about the HCV because it only interfered with their diagnosis.
One member who hasn't posted for a long time, "Eisbein" had a simlar story. You might try the archives where you might find some of our rosacea round table discussions.
Be really careful of the sun and check out the Blue Lizard products esp for the summer. You might also try the Linda Sy site. Their Zinco 20 Cream (tinted and untinted) is also a good sunblock that isn't too irritating.
The one thing you don't want to do is use steroids on a rosacea face (or any face for that matter) as it can make it worse and in fact there's something called steroid-induced rosacea. The exception is if a derm uses it temporarily to get inflammation down.
It's a hard thing to be patient with but hopefully you will get better over time -- and with experimentation -- as I did.
All the best,
-- Jim
During tx I developed intermittent rosacea-like dry, red patches at the base of each nostril. This has continued to show up since I finished tx (Jan. '05). My outbreaks occur on an average of one to two per month.
I chalk it up as one of the many changes that have taken place to my immune system as a result of tx'ing (slightly sub-normal red counts and low/normal white counts being amoung some of the others). My docs generally ignore these occurrences and continue to congratulate me on my ongoing SVR. Strange how they never get around to congratulating me on my "new" (and definitely NOT improved) immune system?!?!
