I am so very very sorry, I know how devastating it can be to relapse, it took me months to wrap my brain around it.
Perhaps you are geno 1a? There are some resistant virus mutations that are inherent to 1a and makes it a bit more difficult to clear using a protease. It sounds as if you are still in the "game" and the INF/Riba will do the cleanup. Here is a link I found educational on resistence. Best of luck.

Soo sorry to hear your news. :-( I cleared last tx but it returned one month post treatment. So I am on my third try now. Please try to keep the faith...I can only imagine how hard this is for you! :-(
Blessings, Starshine
I started first tx with a VL of over 8 mill. Clear at wk 12 and stayed clear right up to 4 wks post tx of 24 wks. Damn bug came back with VL of 94,000 at 12 wks post tx. Better to find out earlier but small comfort for those of us with a resistant strain. Cried the entire day and then some. We will have to wait for the next great virus killing drug and I pray it comes without the interferon. Wish 48 wk tx had been an option for me. Can't understand where the virus was able to survive in my body undetected until it was safe to come out again.
I was on INC trail and clered at 4 weeks and the virus was back at 6 weeks. I broke down and cried right there in the drs office.
I am now on Vic (my 8th treatment) treatment and I did not clear until week 24. I have my next VL 4/13 and am praying I am still UND.
I am sorry you didn't clear. I am curious on anyone who didn't clear -- have you treated before, if so what was the outcome? What is the state of your liver? What was your starting VL and the results of all your treatment tests? And, were you compliant?
At 67, if this doesn't work, I don't know. What for the orals, I guess. I am 64 and hope I clear. I can't see doing it again although I guess I would have to. I have been UND since the 2nd week of Victrelis.

Hi Dog. Sorry to hear you're not undetectable at week 12! If you provide your viral load test results for your entire treatment it may help me give you some ideas. GB
I know there have been a few people who did not clear by week 12 but I do not know what their final outcomes were.
You can still continue treatment with Peg and Riba. It is at week 24 that you must be Undetectable in order to continue treatment.
"For all patients treated with telaprevir, the following futility rules should be employed:
If HCV RNA is > 1000 IU/mL at treatment Week 4 or 12, all 3 medications should be discontinued.
If HCV RNA is detectable at Week 24, pegIFN/RBV should be discontinued. "

Are you still on treatment (Peg and Riba)? If so, I assume you will be doing 48 weeks.
Your profile said you are 67 years old, have had Hepatitis C for 30 plus years, and have worsening fibrosis.
I will bump this post up to the top and hope that some of the more knowledgeable people on the forum will respond.
dogslim711,
Did you have to stop treatment at 12 weeks?
