What would you recommend ANC 700

I am in week 10 of treatment, week 2 with Vic.   Low ANC has been an issue since week 3 of tx.   I have been on weekly neupogen for 4 weeks, testing monday and thursdays.   With my other shots, my ANC was 400 and then by midweek it is hovering over 1000.  But today, one week since last neup shot, my ANC was 700 and I am tempted to wait until next monday's blood test (they said no need this week to do thursday blood test) and not do a shot this week even though the nurse at hematologist told me to do a shot today when I got home.  I know ANC can get much lower without danger.  Interested in hearing what the forum thinks.. realize there are no docs here but very knowledgeable folks!

Yes, sounds very similiar, assume the interferon likes us both quite a bit!  They have been testing me every mon/thurs for a couple weeks but now that they see a pattern they just today said come for blood every monday.. of course this was assuming I was going to follow her advice and do the neup today.   I keep hoping I won't have to do neup through my entire treatment, but doesn't appear that way.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and let me know how it goes for you today!

Sandy,
My ANC went below 400 at week 8.   My situation sounds similar to yours, but with 2x per week, Mon/Thurs routine.  I've been hoping to reduce the neupogen to 1x per week.  My hematologist is with a cancer treatment facilities and is VERY conservative when recommending a reduction in neupogen.  My levels were tested every Thursday, but I'm planning to have them tested each visit with the hopes to see my levels hanging about 1,000.  If I go today and they are, I'm going to request to skip the shot, then retest on Thursday.

If your ANC was at 700 today after one full week since the last shot, I'd be tempted to skip today's shot, but have it rechecked on Thursday to determine your current level.  If you wait another full week to check your levels again, they might be at very low levels.   These numbers can jump around a bit and I'd be cautious about waiting too long, especially with the hematologist's nurse's suggestion.

Remember, I'm not a doctor and don't like giving advice, just sharing my thoughts.
