well be safe....I just hate how much it costs to go to these doctors and the staffing they have...I have a transplant coordinator who says to email her and she will get back to you in 24-48 hours...that's unacceptable....I know everyone at the hospital I go to...worked there for 15 years and then have been dealing with this HCV for over 20 years....they all know me as "she is so sweet" but in the last few months I have gotten tired of the ball being dropped and the buck being passed.  Then I go manic and I just start calling, calling, calling.  And it's not without justification.

My transplant coordinator said if she didn't respond to a phone or email message I should call the transplant line....I did that last Friday and spoke to 5 people and none of them knew about the drugs I was on or the blood test that I was suppose to have because my transplant coordinator put them in wrong.  She called 5 days later and said I heard you were upset...I said which one of the 10 people I talked to did you hear that from or was it the supervisor of Nursing who I sat with for about a half an hour.?

There is no excuse for them not to respond.  I use my pharmacist who is really knowledgeable or my internist who will get the answer for me... its just that when I trained as a EMT and then was going to paramedic training, if we did it, we did it.  We owned it.  We didn't pass the buck.

I know they are busy but they need someone to come in and teach them how to communicate between themselves and their patients.  After all....it is our life.  I could tell you stories that happened that shouldn't over the last 20 years I've had this,

And as for your need to know basis feeling...they are YOUR medical records....you have every single right to them and to doctor or his nurse responding to you.   You sound like me about 10 years ago...I would make all the excuses for them in the world....then several things happened and I realized I needed to take control.

Hector told me that when I first came on this website....to get informed and ask questions and ask them again until they are answered.  Its my right as a patient.

You should be okay but if you start having any adverse effects call the ER if you can't get ahold of your doctors.

Good Luck....I hope you feel better.

I don't have another doctor from internist, eye doctor, gyn, dentist who will prescribe me anything without a okay from my hepatologist.  Between the dentist office calling and you should have been repeatedly calling your hepatologist...they should have responded and I would still get hold of them and demand to know why they didn't.  That's terrible.

Amoxicillin doesn't get absorbed by the liver, unlike other antibiotics, so I think you should have no problem...
