Back in the big apple - from bag pipes to bongos

I arrived in NY this morning so that I can be at Mt Sinai tomorrow morning for my post 12 week blood draw.

My end of treatment visit was on St Paddy's day and I watched the parade.  I arrived today and low and behold - the Puerto day parade!

There was a great contrast between the two parades that exemplified the diversity of NY and all of its wonderful people.  Instead of the haunting sustained notes of a bagpipe, today's parade had the visceral beat of bongos and salsa.  I watched beautiful floats loaded with attractive women in bikinis all singing and dancing to the beat. I LOVE this city!

Absolutely!  I love to "lunch"

Name the time and place and I will be there.

With bells on---because my bikini dayz are over too!

After the FLA lunch, we need a NY dinner, a Canada desert and an Alaskan breakfast.

So, like Eric says---when is the next lunch???

So - when is the next lunch?

The weather finally broke today and it's beautiful in the Big Apple.  We went to the botanical gardens to look at the Henry Moore exhibit and wander around the gardens.  It was spectacular!

I'm sooooooo waiting for your 12 week results! Hurry up will you???  :)

I've wanted (and AM) to go to NY City for years. That's what I asked for my 50th B-day present :) But not till I felt better. I want to go near Christmas time with the snow and lights and so on.
The beach....well I've had enough of it like northeners have had enough of snow :) Tired of sweating and bugs here in Fl. ! THO....we're looking like the SVR state right now :)

Oh....and "attractive women in bikinis all singing and dancing to the beat."....
I'm tired of that too , LOL!!  (my bikini days being over:)

Alagirl......HI!! How are you doing post tx?

Susan.....calling you today on my 40 minute ride to work.

Elaine....hi honey :) How are you and Nick ??

Isobella...you can come to a Fl. lunch now too ? :)

Hi to everyone.... I miss you back in the busy world !

Well - I was born and raised in NY.  My wife used to work for Alitalia Airlines on 5th avenue in the 80s and they had a float in the St Gennaro festival one year with my wife as one of the ladies on the float.   When the float passed me by, I jumped on it at my wife's request.  All the men started throwing Zeppolis at me and I had to get off in a hurry.  That's New York!

Nygirl: Your on for the next trip!  This one is all relatives and some business.

Well it's only fitting that they should arrange a parade for you when you come dont ya think?

:)

But boy oh Boy Eric........you sure picked the wrong weather to come in huh?  The city is a swell place but not really when the heat index is reading 110 degrees - all that pavement and stone just suck in the heat don't they?  Although here at work I am right on the water of the Sound and I can't feel that it's even that much different!

You should have called me while you were going to be here maybe I could have come down for dinner! (LOL any excuse to get into the AC would be a good one right now!)  :)

(Just kidding, but I would have loved to arrange to meet up.  Next time........take the yacht!)   :)

How fun!   It sounds amazing.

One of the best nights and food of my life was Italy,  Every little village, has  a speciality, near where my family is from pine nuts fall from  these trees call umbrella pines, they are very strange looking.     These festivals are called sagras, faires.  The ladies and small ristorantes, cook the most amazing things,  featuring the local produce, some towns are strawberries, some meats, local cheeses. All sorts!

SOOOOOO good,  In this little village, we ate wonderfully, a band played below us, we stood on top of an old fort, with this giant full moon you could touch! It was beautiful!     People laughing and dancing!  So fun!

It was one of those nights, I will remember all my life.

Best food in NY street fair history is at San Gennaro festival in Little Italy, it starts Sept 11.  (Right near Canal Street so you can shop too (just watch out for the undercovers from Manhattan DA's office)  Bring your appetites!!!

Eric, hope you're enjoying our fair city and staying out of the heat.

OK -- I have my shopping list and I am scheduling my next visit on Columbus day in order to watch the Andiamo parade - LOL.

It's actually hotter here than it was in Florida when I left.  We will probably cancel the walk in Central Park and just go to the movies to cool off!

Well, my wife has no faith in my shopping abilities, since I never spend more than 90 seconds deciding what to buy - it's a guy thing.  So I'll head out looking for Fendi and Vuitton, but you never know what I will come back with -- LOL.

Take care all,
Eric

Thanks for slicing off a piece of the Big Apple and sharing it with us!
You know we're all pulling for you.  (Besides, it's been parades every time you've gone to get a PCR... they're already celebrating for you! :D)

Best wishes,

I'm not posting about my Debio-025 on the boards, but I wanted to tell you that I am started on the trial.  I am taking all 3 drugs, the Debio, the Riba and the Pegasys.  I've been on since last Wed. and so far, so good.  No nausea.  No major sides.  The Debio has actually helped me to sleep better for some reason??  No depression.   I am home with computer access for tonight and tomorrow and then, I'll be traveling back up state again for a 9 day period of time and I'll not have access to a computer there.  I'm staying in my parents house which is closer to the trial site than my home - which saves on gas.  I had to come home today to drop off my friend who had made the trip up with me.  The trial site is 3 hrs away and with gas being over $4 a gallon, I have to do what I have to do, you know?  See, when my Mom and Dad go North for the summer, they let me stay in their place up in North FL., when I need to.  But, they take their computer with them when they 'fly' North.   Actually, they drive but, since they're 'snowbirds' - flying sounds better.    So, how are you and Nick doing?  Any news that I've missed on Nick?  I am so out of the loop.  In some ways, I'm glad about not getting wrapped up in the nick picking arguments that come up on some of the sites, because it's stressful, but I also miss having the connection.  I don't have the time or energy to go back and read them all, to catch up, but I did want to ask you about Nick.  BTW, this site with the Debio trial is paying me quite well, to participate in the trial, which is a good thing since I need the gas money so much.  I'm in phone contact with NYGirl and Lady Lauri, so if you want to find out about how I'm doing in the next 9 days, or let me know how Nick is-so I can pray harder- then please let either NYGirl or Lady Lauri know for me, okay?   Thanks

Take care of yourself and God Bless you and your son.

Last time I was there we saw the Latin American Parade.  All bright colors and rhythm!

That city has those events down to a science the way they close streets and re-route everyone.  Made shopping interesting tho-between the detours and all the scaffolding we took many a wrong turn-led to some fun discoveries though!

I (heart) NY!

Enjoy,

Isobella

So do I! Wish I was in NY. Only been once, when my bro still lived in Brooklyn. I loved it sooo much! I got a really stiff neck the first day though, gazing at all the buildings.

It's going to be really hot tomorrow, aren't they having a heat wave?

Take care,

Marcia
